This is just a random idea I had while at work the other day.
Modifying an Automaton's Attachments. While going through the list of Attachments, I started thinking about things folks could do with real life analogues of attachments. For example, an audiophile might replace the woofers and tweeters in a speaker set (Loudspeaker). A car guy might use different parts in the engine to increase performance.
My suggestion would be to allow Puppetmasters to modify their attachments to suit their play style even more so by choosing 1 of the number of modifications. This is what I could come up with as examples.
Loudspeaker:
Tweeter - Boosts debuff potency and accuracy
Subwoofer - Further increases the Magic Attack Bonus trait
Scope:
Targeting Beam - Adds a Critical Hit Rate & Damage modifier to Ranged Attack and Ranged WS
Lens Adjustment - Further increases Ranged Accuracy, adds a Ranged Attack bonus to normal hits
Auto Repair Kit:
Solar Panel - Regen effect active without Maneuvers. Light Maneuver increases Cure Potency. (as an aside, and if named as such, this will work indoors, at night, and in abyssea. If Abyssean Mandragoras can use Photosynthesis properly, so can we)
Force Field - Bigger increase to total HP.
Tactical Processor:
Debugger - Provides the Master with statistical data from the Automaton upon Maneuver usage. (Use a Maneuver, it provides Burden %, Double Attack Rate, Regen/Refresh rate, etc)
User's Manual - Dead Tree Edition - Provides the Master with a hard copy of the user's manual for the attachment.
Again, these are simply examples I came up with. I'm sure better ideas could be had for the modificaitons.
I thought of doing things this way only because of the limits of Attachment space and Elemental Capacity for the Automatons. Adding new attachments would mean less room for the stuff we already have and are comfortable with. People can change gear mid fight. Automatons can't without being shutdown and restarted.
Let me know what you think!
