Personally, my thoughts are that you have not read the thread at all.

Andrien, it was a nice try. But you're fighting a never ending battle. Nobody wants to have fun in FFXI, everyone just wants to be hardcore efficient machines.

悪島 Where the spirit of the moon resides... 気 愛 月光
This entire thread is about making throwing stronger or as strong as Melee so it can be useful.
If it was about fun, This thread wouldn't exist, because as far as i know you can still have fun with shuriken, Even if they don't do super damage. Please don't act like you started this thread "just for fun". you started it because Shuriken damage was gimp.
We're not against making shuriken damage useful, Wish especially, Hes just explaining over and over how the ideas being tossed out would not make shurikens useful. Theres maybe 1-2 Useful ideas in this thread as of now, anything that would not help is of course pointless to add.
What good would it be if they added that mans idea? Throwing would still be sh*t Stew and it would have been a completely worthless update. Not because Throwing will always suck, but because the idea that was suggested simply would not fix Throwing itself.
I don't see why you think in order to have fun you have to convince us to gimp ourselves.
The fact you're asking us to Brainstorm seems proof you didn't read the thread. Cause we have quite a few times >.<Like I said, my answer is the same as before. Give it a boost, throw faster, and even throwing only. There are throwing weapons with 250 base dmg since the RoTZ expansion. Ever tried throwing those artic winds from sky? I crit a mob with that for 600dmg a few years ago at lv75 and that is equivalent to 5 swings. Look the big picture here is that there is plenty of room for improvements for this skill. Try to brainstorm for this skill in FFXI that is lacking improvements for throwing.
Look back at several of my posts and another by a guy who suggested a "Throwing Attacks" like Job Trait. however if it consumed Ammo i don't quite like the idea. You'd lose bonuses like Qirmiz Tathlum. But it could be a worthwhile trade off if done right.
Also, The problem about "Throwing Faster" is there is a 2sec delay between you ranged attacking, and hitting the mob. I cant recall if its from start, or finish, of the animation, but either way, the Delay on the Shuriken could be 1, and you'd still have to wait 2 seconds to swing next. Thats where the problem in throwing comes, from the terrible "Ranged attack" Coding. Its also a reason (one of many) RNG is less than desirable as of late. (maybe not right now? i dont know how well that new JT works)
Now, at 99, I would think the Damage on the shuriken would have to be somewhere around 400 to make it make up for 6 rounds of Damage. however, You also lose 6 attacks worth of TP. So not only would it have to be an incredibly fast-shuriken, and incredibly high-Damage, It would have to give you nearly 36 TP in one throw just to make up for lose of TP you would get from not throwing a Shuriken.
... For me, this isn't an "ANTI-SHURIKEN" Rant. If we get a Throwing update for NIN, My only goal is to make sure its not completely worthless. Some of the ideas in this thread would be as such, They would not make it any more useful...
So even if I come off as rude, I take this hit, because if we get an update, i want it to matter. The Key things about Throwing that need improvements
1) It needs to make up for Missed Attack rounds. TP and DMG wise.
2) They need to give us Cheap, or semi-cheap, Readily accessible shuriken that fill the above qualifications.
3) Or Simply give us a JT like "Kick attacks" for Shuriken.
The biggest problem is creating the above might make us better ranged DD than Rangers. which is another problem I won't get into ...
So yes, while an update to throwing would be nice, We just dont want it to be a pointless update.
