Having the key item Ducal Guard's Lantern from the unmarked quest Save My Sister will prevent you to get Ancient papyrus shreds from any brazier, finish the quest first to get them.

02-09-2018 11:37 PM #2I don't have ducal guard's latern. It's isn't the issue of clicking on ??? and not getting "ancient papyrus scrap". The issue is there is no ??? found or clickable in the room.
