While I get what you are trying to say... lately with crafting, you can easily level several crafts with a minimal, 1-70, in a matter of a few hours, and yes this includes time to gather materials. Some crafts you don't ever have to leave the guild and you will eventually make your investment back, and then some if you do it right and smart. You only need crystals (which you can get from sky by the loads).

Fishing, however, there are no quick routes. You're going to be spending hours upon hours, Pelican Ring or not.

Not to mention, you have a ceiling of 200 catches per day, and if you're absolutely lucky as crap, you might get Level 20 within those 200 catches, maybe. More like 15 in actual practice from what I've seen.

And given that the average catch can sometimes take upwards of 3 minutes (waiting, "Didn't Catch Anything", junk catches you escape out of, etc), you're also looking at 600 minutes or 10 hours to do all that fishing.
