You don't have to sync down. The ones in QSCs are mixed in with too weaks and can be converted to EPs by simply killing all the too weaks between weather pops. I have done that trial 3 times each time taking no more then 2 hours and one with a group of 3 which took only one weather cause we could open the doors getting to the other pops.
I'd argue actual weather rarity to be the bigger issue with trials of that nature. It may very well be more common in another zone with the desired mobs, but the mobs themselves too weak at 75+. Otherwise convincing someone else to stand around and do nothing for hours with no guaranteed result isn't what I call exciting or even a reward for that person... which kinda brings me to the next issue on trials and how someone just helping doesn't really get much out of it while you can't really expect those seeking help to be able to shell out the often high amounts of gil wanted for merc work. I don't blame people for holding because there's no guarantee someone would return the favor in a prompt manner, if ever, either.
Only weather that is rare is fire weather and no trials that need fire are only weather. I also think even though its been said so many times learn the seasons it makes a large differance. None of the trials are hard or take that long.
Light, Fire, and Dark are rather under-represented as weather patterns, though the last isn't as rare as the first two. Demanding people learn the seasons is basically multiplying the "wait for the right day" aspect by weeks, maybe more. If you can't play then for whatever reason, basically telling someone, "Tough luck!" isn't a good way to retain interest or customers.
Then again, a lot of this could be avoided if Storm spells could access 1 point per kill or if players could buy/synth items to temporarily influence a zone's natural weather or at least trigger the needed stat like a sort of 'Aurora Beacon' where anything within X yalms would be affected by light weather.
Its a MMO some time sinks are to be expected. Also it doesn't come from a mob that only pops every 24-72 hours isn't camp by hundreds of other players. Before fay weapons and trials the best Snm weapon came from a fight that you had to have finished CoP, ZM beat Bv1, Bv2 and hope you got the drop and won the lot/bid suck up to the leader eough to get it. I like this system more then any other in the game. It involes effort for a guarantee result.
