Would it be possible to add the functionality to Dual-Box from one screen/character?

I've dual-boxed for a number of years now, and I've had this idea circle my brain a couple of times before. Here's the concept:

-You would have 2 game systems (2 x PS2s, 2 x Xbox360s,or 2x PCs. Or a mix of either of these)
-Create two characters separately.
-Log on with both characters separately.
-Control both characters via either ONE of the character's game menus.

It would be no different than any other FFXI game in the past in regards to controlling multiple characters via the Main character, so I'm curious about this possibility.

I understand there would have to be limits such as capping the number of characters a player would be able to control based on this functionality so folks couldn't control an entire party or alliance and such, but I'm concerned with the possible gameplay it would offer. How many people would create 2-3 more characters if this functionality be realized? That type of thing.
