I am up to date (did it yesterday) with no issue.
But when I try to get into the game today it just wont go. I hit the play button then the second play and it flashes and returns me to the checking friends and mail and back to the list and hit play page.
Doesn't look like it exits POL

Did it work before you updated, or is the update after first installation, because it could be something, like Direct X is missing.

it worked just after the update. But I did update flash after quitting....

It's possible it could be a settings fault, run the Final Fantasy XI config and make sure it's not something like a resolution set too high for your monitor, could also try Windowed mode.
