I am all for this. Selbina only has one boat trip. Make it have a 2nd boat like Mhaura does. That boat takes you to the far east or the northlands. Maybe even give the town of Rabao some love by giving it an Airship that takes you to a new land?

Until every continent on Vana'diel is explorable, this game is not finished.

I think most people seem to want a Box expansion and new zones. Now then, would you guys be willing to pay $50, $30 for it?

Personally, I'd pay $50 for another good expansion. However, if it were released with barely any content i think $30 seems appropriate.

I'd love to see a new boxed expansion with maybe 1-2 new jobs, a brand new endgame area (like ToAU gave us with nyzle/salvage) but could the PS2 support this without causing issues?

And i'd happily pay $30 for a new boxed expansion if it gave brand new, decent content

Honestly, I'm going to be disapointed with anything less than original content in 2011. Things like: sincerely new zones that aren't like a chopped up version of Gusgen Mines (Ruhotz Silvermines). New mobs, new towns, etc.

Is that a lot to ask at this point? Probably, but it's what I'm willing to continue paying to play for.

Abyssea has done a good job of starting the bridge to 99. Sure, it was old reused content wrung out, shaken, and remixed. But it did work. It's fun, casual, and rewarding for the money.

Now with the next whole year before us, we have to wonder again if we'll see much genuinely new content on the horizon. We've been patient but the wait has just been so incredibly long. Wings of the Goddess was released over 3 years ago which began the new norm of reusing old content. Then came the Quest Addon Scenarios, and last year Abyssea.

It doesn't help that the characters at the end of Wings gloat about leaving on their journeys to go to other, more interesting places At this point I'm convinced most players would hand over all their money to Square for either just expanding onto new continents or making skillups faster/easier.

Even smaller, more compact zones full of pathways would be great. That was one of the secrets behind Treasures. Unlike the old zones (which are hugely vast but empty), Treasures featured relatively small zones that were long, winding and more constrained. But the result was more intimate and scenic zones with a refreshing feel.

I don't know how much resources the FFXI team has at their disposal at this point. But as it is I'm not sure my interest will hold if 2011 only brings spring cleaning to old content I've done.

It's good that we beat up Shinyru in Abyssea. Now we have no reason to go back there for anything but passing amusement (and maybe a few drops we missed on the first pass.)

I can not agree more with the above posters calling for a full boxed expansion to this game with new stories and zones. WotG did a respectable job of adding in new zones (even the recycles had substantial modifications), but anything less is unacceptable. Something along CoP or ToAU is in order. Quest lines are just as important as the rewards.

And don't even think of charging us 10$ for a single quest chain and some augmented body piece that is not only ugly, but of questionable value.

I'd also like to see the leveling to 99 slowed just a little bit. Not 50k a level at 5k/hour XP rate, but something that takes more than a day to cap. Now if we could come up with some innovative way to level up that wasn't based on XP grinding....

This is why FFXI will die. Dont get me wrong, Id love to see a real expansion so the adventure can continue, but our retard brother PS2 keeps us handicapped.
I think it would be a great idea to not only get a box expansion but be able to use our newly earned atma in these new areas.

I say make a petition saying "Drop the PS2, upgrade local speed connections, and build a new expansion!"

SE should stop supporting PS2 in favor for better gameplay experience, i would like to see a new expansion too, but most of all i would like to see an Oracle like job (like in FFT), i know many of you could tell me that BLM, RDM, WHM, and SCH has some of their abilities, but think about a job entirely dedicate to that kind of issues, that would set the other mages jobs focus on their primary duties....
