I spent 2 days with Norton tech support to analysis the problem.
We uninstalled everything and came at it from scratch.
When the dust cleared (9 hr reinstall of FFXI) the same error came up and then a new problem happened. The Player viewer starts crashing. I am at the point of cancelling my subscription for a few months...

The game worked well up until July 10th when they did a maintenance update. They have a program or file conflict.
