I can get 45 merits in about 20 mins, I can take a new job from 1 to 99 in 4-5 hours during double xp. That's not even fast, people can do that a lot quicker than me. Just as I lack the intricate knowledge and gear of how to get things done in FFXIV the quickest these days you lack the knowledge and gear of how to get them done here.

A somewhat decently geared player with strong trusts and a good amount of vorseals can do very well for themselves in Escha zones during double XP/CP campaign. Personally, I was running around in Reisenjima the other day as SCH just casting Helix spells and engaging mobs while my party of trusts took them down in 10-15 seconds.

A decently geared blu, a pet-geared BST (despair) or a nicely geared BLM even can aoe-melt through Zitah like butter for merits.

BST is a very nice entry job for this, you order your pet to attack something, let it get a few strikes in, heel, snarl, spectral jig and let everything link on your pet then aoe.

Or, if you have a nice -DT set for BST (Jumalik mail, twilight torque, Defending/Vocane/PDT Rings--since the rest of the slots go to -pet DT), you don't bother with jig and just link as much on your pet as possible.
