I still think that SE gets a hard wrap from a lot of the community and since they'll never say anything back it's easy for people to take shots at them, or even just get angry because they like the game but wish it went the direction they thought it should go or implemented their ideas. I see and hear this a lot, but I think a genuine thank you isn't given enough, especially after updates. There seems to be a mentality that if you compliment SE or their employees efforts and works, it will lead to the game suffering as a consequence. Positive reinforcement has been shown by study to be a more motivating factor than negative, and no one actually likes a negative atmosphere if they think about it long enough, even if they redefine positive to be something other than the norm.
I just want to say thank you for this update, and continuing updates, and all your hard work over the years. I feel that should be given by default to SE's directors, developers, and even community team members for FFXI on a pretty regular basis but instead I see so many outbursts. I also apologize for the community if they aren't able to do this simple courtesy of displaying some appreciation or even gratitude. I think too many people think if you pay for something, all gratitude and thanks are off the table and to some degree, I can understand that, but this game has had a big influence on me and I think the feels alone I got from it deserve thanks, and by extension anyone in the chain that helped make that happen. So I'd ask before you flame SE, or another poster or whatever, please ask what it will get you besides apathy at best and backlash at worst, and if you like something, be vocal about that as well perhaps even more so than your discontent.
I want to thank SE and their employees that worked to make it happen, and the people keeping the community and game running through customer service, billing and all else for all the updates recently and continuing to do them. This new event seems fun, and adds some enticing gear, and Eschan zones has been some of my absolute favorite content ever, so thank you and please keep up the good hard work.
