    Crystal Armor

So this has been talked about a few times, but the threads where the discussion is featured are quite scattered.

The general idea that you make your jobs Ultimate Armor (Crystal attire set). You do this by obtaining your job's respective reforged Artifact, Relic, and Empyrean armor +1 pieces. You need the 119 +1 piece for each armor, 109 pieces do not work. So in order to obtain the Crystal Ninja body armor, you need all 3 of your reforged body armor pieces. Also you would need to be able to equip S2 items (100 JP's is not difficult by any means).

How the process is completed would probably end up being synergy, but I would prefer it to be a quest. And by quest, I don't mean obtain 1,000 plutons. I mean do actual quests, similar to the original AF quests. Each quest would probably have a single, reasonably easy to obtain item required (maybe Limbus items? I realize they would need to add items for GEO and RUN).

The second part of each quest would be to prove you are a superior <insert job here>. This would be different for each job: for example, maybe a WHM would have to prove their value by healing or casting raise, something WHM related. DD's would have the typical "kill X number of enemies" or certain NMs. All of these tasks should be required to be done solo (no trusts or outside help). If you're interested in this idea, please add your ideas for this section below, or make any other comments about the topic you have.

After you finish that portion of the quest, you go back to permanently converge your armor pieces into one. The quest only needs to be done once for all five pieces of armor. The process is done by the NPC that you first did your original AF quest for.

Once you have all of your armor and are officially a "Master" at your job (2100 JP's) you can begin a second quest to augment the armor pieces. In order for the augments to have effect, you would required you to have it all equipped at once, similar to the empyrean+2 sets. Having the entire set equipped as a Master would enable you to do something fantastic. Example: the BLM set allows you to cast Ultima, or perhaps enhances meteor. The augments would have a unique spell, weaponskill, or ability. Please keep in mind these are just ideas, and you are free to add any input that you may have.

That's quite a grind. Why aren't you already working for SE?

Realistically, I don't think this could happen because there would be way too many special effects on a single item (SE has said in the past that there's a limit on how many different things can be on one item) from combining this stuff. But I do love the concept (if not the work!)

I don't know if you're an artist or not but did you have any ideas as to how it would look?

With trusts, they've proven they can put reasonable intelligent AI in the party. There could be a battle proving your worth wherein you have to properly perform your [role] to win.

A whm ends up in a party with a ninja tank and a mob that silences the tank. On top of curing and hasting, the whm would need to -na.

A DD ends up in a party with a tank and healer, but they're the primary source of damage and time/rage constraints means that the player has to play well.

A NIN ends up tanking a physical damge NM, something with a throat stab type move that it's important for shadows to absorb. Toss in some moderate aga damage.

PLD has to fend off heavy physical damage, and RUN has to deal with heavy magic damage, say swapping modes (like Arciela in SR) where the RUN has to swap elements.

Merely a dream, but a neat dream.

Also, with this Master Effect, I want August's wings. I demand no less.

It should be a grind. Being a Job Master, a real one, should take effort.

There's a certain point where doing the same thing over and over doesn't prove anything anymore other than who has the most patience to deal with monotony.

That happened a few years ago already.

The proposed armor would be neat to save inventory, and will never happen.

It doesn't have to be monotony. It's only design that makes it feel so repetitive.

But that's the thing, if you're not going to commit full out to a job, the players that do should stand out in comparison to you.

100 JP's can easily be obtained any job, it just may take more time for some than others. It works perfectly, because the point of obtaining the armor is to prove that you are a Superior [insert job]. And being a true Job Master should take effort and time, as Omnys said. Someone who spends 99% of their time on BLU shouldn't be easily equaled (gear wise) by someone who only changes to it for silt farming. And I may be mistaken, but I believe they remedied the stats on gear solution by allowing you to read the next page of stats.

And sadly, I cannot draw, therefore I have no design plans

I could go for a fourth set of job specific armor. Combining does seem handy but with the addition of a second mog wardrobe I'm less concerned about that. However I wish they would take another crack at making some better looking armor for thf as I do not like how the three previous sets look. Especially empyrean, who needs a chin strap for a hood? What I would like to see is what I consider the quintessential final fantasy thief look. A green bandanna, and I know this sounds crazy, a vest that goes down to the waist. Something that looks like this.

Motion seconded. Their JSE armor looks terrible. That armor design would be a huge improvement over all the weird stuff they've given us so far.

However Vae has a point, this won't happen. 22 jobs, 8 character models, I just don't think the developers have it in them to even make the graphics for 22 unique sets. Which is a shame since looking at the more recent armor sets and models added to the game shows a huge improvement in skill and quality.
