    I think you forge stronger friendships on a smaller server. You may have a smaller pool of people to party with, but the ones you do meet will almost surely be more reliable.

    Not at all true. In fact, you're forced to accept what you get. Shout an hour to put together a Rei NM.. You get to the point you don't even want to /check the guy who finally replies.

    Personally, I find it very true. I've been on shiva since i started playing not long after the game came out in the US. It's not the biggest server and never was but I don't care. I have a great time and I have good friends who do stuff. I don't usually even need to shout for randoms.
