1. I buffed using Dark Arts, Addendum Black, Sandstorm, Klimaform, Reraise II (via Cait Sith).
2. I summoned Ifrit and used Assault on the Eschan Il'aern
3. I used Flaming Crush on the Eschan Il'aern for 9842 damage
4. I cast Stone with Magic Attack Bonus gear on for 1248 damage on the Eschan Il'aern
5. The Eschan Il'aern is still attacking Ifrit
6. I cast Stone again with the same gear on as step 4 and do 1248 damage
7. The Eschan Il'aern immediately starts attacking me as soon as the second cast of Stone does damage.
8. I kill the Eschan Il'aern and find a new Eschan Il'aern
9. I summoned Garuda and used Assault on the Eschan Il'aern
10. I used Predator Claws on the Eschan Il'aern for ~5000 damage
11. I cast Stone with Magic Attack Bonus gear on for 1598 damage on the Eschan Il'aern
12. I cast Stone 3 more times (each for 1598 damage) before the Eschan Il'aern makes me its target.
To sum it up, blood pacts that do magic damage generate severely reduced amounts of enmity compared to physical blood pacts. This applies to merit pacts, flaming crush, night terror, impact, etc. This makes it difficult to use avatars as temporary tanks when the primary means of doing damage to a specific target involves using magic based blood pacts. I hope that magic blood pacts will be adjusted so that they generate as much enmity as physical blood pacts that do the same amount of damage.
