It's good to hear XI runs well on W10.
But then again in my case I'm waiting a while before upgrading to 10 anyway (currently using 7) At least until DX12 games start rolling out there's little incentive for me to switch to 10 right away.

I upgraded to Win10.
pol.exe crashed the first time I launched it but worked just fine the second time. No clue why. I've noticed that since upgrading, ffxi is taking about half the cpu usage it used to, running at the same settings. I'm not sure why, but it's awesome and I'm not complaining.
A few weeks prior to upgrading to Win10, doing a usual Windows update (patch Tuesdays!) made FFXI subsequently "stutter" for a few frames every once in a while. I eventually noticed that the Windows Defender Antimalware Service Executable was spiking cpu use exactly when my stutters were happening.
Control Panel > Windows Defender > Settings > and adding a process exclusion for pol.exe fixed it.
Upgrading to Win10 kept the exclusion in place and things have been smooth sailing.
Good luck, folks!
Just to settle this, its nvidia specific. The nvidia update downloads automatically some time after the initial windows 10 install, then you restart and it works. It's pretty fast if your connection is good.
it is Nvidia specific, i just upgraded to windows 10 and had the Nvidia problem which was fixed thanks to the update to the driver. but to better explain it

pretty much explains it.
I never encountered that issue.
I wonder if it only affected certain video cards or environments.
But no matter, the problem is fixed^^ and everyone needs new video drivers when they upgrade from any previous OS anyway. And some have said you need to make sure your audio is updated too or it will cause crashes.
had that all taken care of once i upgraded to windows 10.
I have an AMD graphics card and FFXI would crash until I got windows 10 drivers installed.
Did an upgrade then a Refresh / Clean Install, Win 10 actually prompted me for DirectPlay when the initial legal Screen popped up, updated drivers, FFXI runs fine (I run it Windowed mode)
FFXI worked fine for me on windows 10. Just need to make sure drivers are current and legacy components enabled like has been stated by others.
