I have 550 Job Points spent on DNC, with (currently) another 175 waiting for the update on the 5th to be spent. It's not hard to get job points if you want. 150 of those 175 weren't even purposefully obtained. Just happened to get them playing DNC.

The whole point of Job Points is to reward you for playing that job.

Thats the sound of something going over so many peoples heads....

I will say it again... adding JP isn't content...it is adding a mindless grind of multiple hours per job. Mindless grind doesnt = content...sorry fan bois.

And until they up the jp gain rate, its virtually impossible to get enough jp on all the jobs in a manner or fation that keeps the game fun. No one is going to grind 500+ jp on one job to just start over on another, just for the sake of having them all done. They dont add the power that merits do, they take longer to get, and they are more expensive. The whole jp system was ment to be a slight reward to give small boosts to jobs you play alot and has turned into something that is mandatory for most jobs to grind 200+ jp on just to stay competative.

If the cp gain bonus you gained on each job rolled over to all jobs it might not be so bad, but as it stands, without double cp campaigns its not worth (to me) the 10 hrs a day 10 days a week for 5% more pet haste, and 7 acc/atk.

Lets not mention how absurd it is to need 100 jp to wear certain gear...because in the time it takes to get those 100jp you can already get a full suit of better armor.

I did it twice. Machini did it. I know a guy who did it on 3 different jobs. I get 300,000 - 500,000 capacity points per hour, solo, with little effort. That's 12 hours total to hit 200, 33 to cap a job. This is much faster than capping merits in 2006. I dunno if your problem is that you're entitled because Abyssea let you microwave everything to 99 while sleeping, or just stupid because you can't figure out how to farm job points effectively.

This is also irrelevant to the conversation anyway since several other things are being added.

You personally not liking something does not equal "this thing doesn't count as content".

Please explain how adding job points doesn't count as content, but somehow adding yet another battlefield with nothing but restyled NMs and gear drops somehow arbitrarily does.

Zarchery is right, Jobpoints are not only content, they are core content. In an RPG the characters stats/abilities are core concepts, and so any in-game system that enables higher personalised customising of these abilities is considered core content.

I'm part of the eccentric rogue group here who liked Jobpoints better when they first arrived, and were quite slow to farm, it felt like a greater achievement than the much faster mode we have now. Also, updates are stopping later this year, so I don't see what the hurry is to cap Jobpoints right now. When the updates stop, you will have lots of time to farm Jobpoints on all your favourite jobs, when there wont be any new content to do. We don't know what the maximum brackets will be for Jobpoints, but even assuming they increase the upper limit further in the next few months, you will still be able to max your Jobpoints after the version-updates finally stop. I think Jobpoints are one of the things they are leaving behind for us to work on after the updates finish, along with RME and Escha and maybe new things in the final RoV. So I don't see the big hurry, if you finish things now you will have less things to work on next year!

I'm with the "Don't like it? Then don't do it" crowd.
This game has so many other things that you can do that I am utterly surprised that you anger yourself over such a minor aspect.

I'm not capped yet, and I don't care.
I too dislike grinding so I only do it when I have to.
As others have said, the job points also come from doing content, that's where most of mine come from and I'm perfectly fine with that.

I find farming job points to be relaxing. I can head out to one of my favorite camps, call out Trusts, and start killing. Then I can stop when I want.

Things like Vagary, Unity, Delve, Skirmish, high tier mission battles, etc., require you to convince other people to join (delays your start time) and/or keep going after you've grown bored. And what do you get? Equipment that you can equip to.... go do more Vagary, Unity, Delve, etc.,. If I were capriciously deciding what counts as "content" like Roja, I'd say that none of these things count as content.

The only updates that don't count as content are the ones that literally add nothing.... which is bug fix patches.

I get that, and it's what I occasionally do as well.
It does clear my head to sometimes mindlessly go out and just slay the local fauna for a while but it gets boring quite fast for me so I don't do it too often.

Apart from that, I am one of those social creatures that likes human interaction when doing things.

I actually think August update will be great. I haven't been in FFXI since May but I just returned a few days ago just for Aug update. The reason being is for new story. Story alone always gets me excited for any update. Although if story content isn't your thing and you just want improvements on game stuff, then the stat ailments and buff display is something I always wanted the game to have for years. FFXIV has it, and even before FFXIV came out I wish it was added in FFXI. It'll definitely help out healers and support roles being able to see these.

    I'm really excited for:
    * new zone with new bosses with new mechanics to figure out
    * new gear (hoping for the non augment dagger, more gear with unique sphere effects, the non augment staff, more accessories)
    * If the last zone boss was an endeath rabbit, what will this one be o_o
    * The Key Items that literally was a game changer for mythics relics, and much else, and what they will do for other parts of the game
    * New trusts, more trusts out at a time
    * Revisiting story and missions and new story and missions
    * Better silt farming for non aoe jobs, and maybe full blown Capacity Points parties for silt and exp as well

Should be good fun. I have had a lot of fun learning to beat the escha NMs and no one I talk to says the Escha NMs are not fun to fight.

In the three days since posting that I've gained six more job points just screwing around on DNC. I will be getting the remaining 19 tonight during GainEXP.

For people who severely dislike having to kill mobs for four hours a week (it's fairly easy, once you have all the +%cap RoEs done, plus a COR roll, plus just the AHable +%cape) to get quite a few Job Points per hour, and more with rings, and even more with the Double Cap campaigns. Myself and the two other people I do this with top out around 20 Job Points an hour during a Double Cap Campaign, and 10 normally.

I can see how Job Points would be somewhat hard to accumulate on a specific job if you play a lot of different jobs, but the whole point of Job Points is that they are buffs to a specific job that you can only get by playing the job.
