Broken wings of the goddess mission cutscenes

I've only recently gotten into Wings of the Goddess missions, but I'm stuck on mission 15 Crossroads of Time. I used a scroll of recall to warp to Windhurst and my playstation 2 locks up midway though the cutscene every time. Then when I log back in i'm forced to watched the cutscene again and the cycle repeats itself.

Is there anyway to solve this without reinstalling FFXI?!

Had same problem with my PS3 for ALL WotG missions where the CS happens as you zone into Windhurst. Had to call up a friend playing on PC and give him my login info and security token code so he could login as me and get me thru them all. The quality control and overall support for PS2/PS3 is absolutely dismal considering their promotion of the fact this game plays on all platforms.

Ok, maybe you could assist me further from here Groupitou, please? I was trying to get a friend to do just that so he could get me past the CS on PC, but it wouldn't allow him to log in as me for some reason.

A ticket was started in the game bugs section. This particular cut scene was not listed though. You might want to add the details on yours in that thread as well:

It is a long shot, but it is something you could try. Sometimes cut-scenes lock up because of internet snafus. If you have a home network and are using a router to feed the web to both your PS2 and PC/Laptop, you could try connecting your PS2 directly to the modem (bypass the router) so that all traffic is sent to your PS2. This should resolve any issues with firewall or other port forwarding that could be preventing communication with SE.

Otherwise, it could be the old problem with too long a data stream for the PS2 to handle and it just chokes down. If the latter is the case, SE will need to break it down into seperate CS like they did with some others a while back.

You need to logout completely, have your friend that plays on a PC login as you as a guest using your account info and your security token code (I was on the phone with him while he logged on in order to give him the current token code).

He will then appear at the zone limit (where you are stuck) and then spam-enter to get you thru the CS asap. Once the CS done and your character is inside Windy he logoff and you logon from your console and continue with the quest/mission.

Ended up having this done 5 or 6 times, a real PITA.

No reason to unplug the PS2 from the router, just give it a static address on your network and put that address in the DMZ. There's no malware for the PS2 that can be installed via the network, so there's no reason for the platform to not be in the DMZ. Any device in the DMZ is given all traffic the router receives, it effectively shuts off the firewall for that device.

yeah DMZ can work too, but it can cause some issues with other devices on that network, as some inbound traffic intended to go elsewhere(pushed content and such) may go to the PS2 instead. It's not common, but it can crop up.

If you go the DMZ route, make sure to take it off and go back to your port-forwarding setup again, or you may run into a problem down the line if you leave the PS2 in the DMZ. Then you'll be pulling your hair out trying to figure out why an application on your PC is suddenly broken.

Edit: Just remembered I had an issue with my ISP about 2 years ago where I couldn't zone to certain areas and it would not resolve until I bypassed my router (tracert was showing stalls in Nova Scotia area). It forced my modem to release/renew DHCP and got me on a different routing path to SE (tracert connected afterwards) and I was able to get into Windhurst. So, soemtimes changing the primary MAC Address detected by the modem (ie, bypassing the router) may still work better than the easier of method of DMZ, depending on exactly what the problem is.

It sounds like you have a problem on your end being that you don't have all the ports open which are required by which is why your game locks up.

Need to set up your router correctly.

Thank you for all your help everyone. I was experiencing this same CS problem a couple of missions back while in Sandy past also, but all I had to do for the last set was wait until next maintenance for them to break up the CS like Raist said. This time since i'm actually caught in an infinite loop I was seeking other suggestions. ^_^
