If you purchase the game on Steam, is it possible?

I highly doubt it. A quick search didn't turn up much, although someone mentioned there supposedly being a steam option if you bought the game through steam, which is hard to verify.

There would have to specifically be a way to link your steam account to a SE account management account, since the latter is required to play FFXI at all, and given how old FFXI's system is, I'd be surprised if it had the versatility to use that feature. (I'd also assume I'd have found more "yes" responses to the question when I did a search)

They could have reghistration codes marked as sold through Steam, and then when you register them on SEAM, it figures out which Steam Account the key came from, and thus link to Steam Wallet. I'm pretty sure they don't do it that way though.
