He used to do that on my LS forum, just random tech posting of any projects he was tinkering with. No idea what he was fishing for, he just does this.

I also wonder about his setup sometimes, as he said he was using two computers at once once:

    ***
I used a laptop and desktop computer simultaneously. I used my desktop to connect only to Final Fantasy XI. I then used my laptop only for access to the on-line Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia (wiki.ffxiclopedia.org). Knowing my level of difficulty playing Final Fantasy XI, I wanted to be sure that I had the gameplay screen (on desktop) & the wiki screen (on laptop) right next to each other, to insure absolute clarity.

I don't know why he would do that rather than just attach a second monitor to the desktop and work side-by-side with one system.

There has been an official Windowed mode since WotG was current. You just turn it on in FFXIConfig.

Nothing you are really doing with this equipment is impressive. This is stuff anyone that has built a computer would know. Drive enclosures and USB controller adapters are really common. Why you'd post it on an FFXI forum, in general FFXI discussion is unknown. If you want to blog about non-FFXI stuff, there's plenty of places to do so.

If your computer is set up properly, other programs won't take away from FFXI. FFXI can only use one core of a processor, it's not built for multiple cores. If FFXI is hogging one core, the OS should put other programs on other cores. With 2-8 core systems being prevalent, you have unused CPU cores and cycles to spare for multitasking, which is why it was a complaint for so long that FFXI didn't have a windowed mode to allow multitasking. They could still use some improvements to the windowed mode, like letting audio and controller input work when out of focus, like their competition does.
