I agree with the original poster, if your lucky enough to have an ls where people help each other the gaining of seals will be easy enough, but if like many of us when you ask in ls if anyone wants to go farming seals you get met with silence then your prety much screwed.
There needs to be a better solo option, take weapon trials, some weapons require you to kill like 6000 mobs+ to get the multi hit weapon but many of us are fine with that because we can solo it.

Most people don't want it easy they just want a solo option, make it 1000 mobs per seal and allot of us would jump at it.

Seals from Ops are once a game day max, though it's entirely possible to get no seal during a Vana 'diel day.

Seriously though, people are bitchuing that while they get free seals from exping it's not enough?

Dom ops is really a poor choice to try to get seals specifically. As said already, you can only get 1 per day. And even then its completely random what job you get, and whether its body or hands. Doing a quest would be faster since its only 4-5? jobs, one armor slot, and can do it as many times as you want. But even still, NMs are easier and faster. Even without procs you are likely to get at least a few seals.

Many of the NMs in the newest zones are not particularly hard either, if you have a job that can solo (nin thf dnc) or duo/lowman well its really not that hard. Have at least a blm since they tend to get most procs and look at what you might be able to lowman. I usually go as dnc/nin for ninjutsu procs, my fiance who is brd/whm for brd and some divine procs, and if I can, drag along a blm friend. Thats nearly everything there except for blu. Add in a thf (or play it yourself if you have it) for TH and you can be finished relatively quickly. Its still easier than pre abyssea trying to get af2 for example, where you'd be doing dynamis maybe 1-2 week, need quite alot more people to do a run, and then hope your leader chooses the zone you want and then compete with anyone else who wants it.

There is a solo opition its Quest. For body and hand seals theres 2 quest for each and the quest for blu and rdm seals are easy. Yes they are random on reward but they are solo friendly.

Seal drops were probably tac'd to dominion ops because Bastion ops had them on there as well. I'd be willing to bet it wasn't the primary focus.

There are 20 jobs, and 2 Seals for each that can come off a Dominion op, If you're only look for 1 seal, you have a 1 in 40 chance PER Vana-day to get the seal you want. Even if you had a 100% chance to get a Seal each day, That would not be a good method of obtaining seals.

If you cannot shout for help in port Jeuno to get a few Seal-NMs going, Then you should attempt to do the quests designed for the Seals. Use FFXIclopedia.org to Look it up.

though, If you're really willing to quite over an event designed for easy exp/Cruor/dominion credits, with a bonus chance of a random seal, You will not last in FFXI, and you should probably save yourself from being overly angry and go ahead and get it over with and quit now.

Do the NMs, or the Quests for the Seals, Dominion ops are not a reasonable method to obtain what you want. its Too random to be useful, and you can only get 1 per vana-day.

Seal drops weren't added to Bastion until Heroes came out.

The drop rate of seals is horrible, for me the drop rate of the Rdm hat in Dyna (the old days dyna) was easier then trying to get seals for armor.

I have done close to 30-35 dominion and no drop, spread out over several Vandi days and earth days.

for Rdm, Blm, Blu and Whm seals it is getting impossible to get a party up past the first 2 mobs, people get their two and leave, no one has these seals available if they are getting a party together (they need them). So need some place where you can get them, but some decent drop rate would be nice.
The problem here is that you are replacing a reliable LS with random pick up people that all have different agendas and will never function the same as a LS where there are obligations to stick around. If you're going to do that then you can't complain when it doesn't go your way. What do you do? There is no keeping random people around after they get what they need. It's not a charity to help you get what you need to boot. You leave, rep them, come back and hope the NM is still free or try another time. That is your fate in Abyssea if you skip the LS route, much like if you skipped out on LSs in the past your fate was to never obtain all that fancy end game gear from ground kings to sky to sea to events. Be grateful that you don't need to sign your life away right now to a LS, and try harder. There's plenty of people dying to play follow the leader. Stop being one of them and take the lead.

Also, I wouldn't even consider Dom Ops as a method of obtaining seals. It's more like a small bonus on top of completing the Op that already awards exp, gil, and dom notes.

Here's your problem. You're trying to get seals from dominion ops. First, as far as I've been able to see, you can only get one per game day (though it's not 100% when the day rolls over, i've never ever seen more than one in a day) Second, there's only a 1/20 chance it's going to be for your job.

Seals from dominion ops are just a little perk. They give GOBS of EXP, that's the real reason to do them.

If you want seals, do quests or kill NMs. There are few NMs you can't kill with 3 people or less.
