Game quality dropping

I'm playing on a PS2 and i know most are going to say "there's your problem" but the point is I have never really had any problems with PS2 until recently and it is now getting worse. So any computer related advice although appreciated is irrelevant. I just want to be able to play the game that I'm paying for without the fear of being stuck in a CS without escape. I am know starting to think there is a bug in the CS I'm stuck in, it plays all the way through just fine but completely blacks out after the scene in the palace. Even when there is no lag in the game, please SE if you are reading this fix it.

PS2 has had various cutscenes that lock up and can't be passed since around when Abyssea was released. SE has done little to fix them. Some PS2 hackers out there have found the cause being something with the way SE changed packet handling when they started uncapping certain battlefield fights. It's not likely to be fixed, and the complaints about such issues have been big on the JP section of the forums. The solution is to log in on PC and view the cutscene, and then go back to playing on the console until the next cutscene you get that locks you up.

FYI, last I checked the download for the full Seekers Collection for PC is still up on the official site from the last Return to Vana'diel campaign. The computer you are posting from to this forum should be able to run it. Install that, log in, and view the CS, then go back to your PS2 if you really want.
