Exactly! It's remarkable how many people don't get our point of view with Unity, we WANT to use it but in it's current state all it is most of the time is a load of spam, it has the potential to be a very useful source of communication.

Plus the channel often is completely full of people doing stuff like that and then not turning it off afk so you can't get in when you actually need/want to talk or organize a wanted fight. As such usually you see them in shouts still

And it's not like accolades are hard to get. I've been capped for awhile just doing content because almost all RoE gives some and I haven't had time to do wanted and there is really nothing else to spend them on

See Square-Enix...this is EXACTLY what i'm talking about. (Ty zarchery for agreeing w/ me ;3 ) ...If you are intending to motivate players to use the chat system, the Records of Eminence objective wasn't really necessary to have. People WOULD HAVE used it for its intended purpose w/o the objective. But no, the majority of people HAVE NO INTENTION OF EVER USING IT for its purpose and just use it just to leech and spam the chat for free experience points and free accolades and nothing else. For everyone else who does use Unity chat for its purpose, good job and i praise you for using it for its actual intention. But if Square-Enix's intention is to motivate players to use it, then just let people use it w/o the objective so there wont be any more spam.

I've bought around 15 keys with accolades so far. I got junk on all 15 keys lol.

But what made me laugh was that one day I got an "onion" with my 15,000 Unity accolades key, and the very next day I got an "onion knife" with another 15,000 Unity accolades key!

They gave me an onion, and an onion knife to cut it with! And cutting onions makes you cry lol, which I was close to already after spending 30,000 accolades on those two items!

It was once said in one of the unity chats (yes someone actually typed a full sentence) that the purpose of unity chat objective is just to make sure that we are alive and not mindless bots that farm salvage all day.

(I actually lost what it was that I had already started to write and had cut it to add in the past replies in as past quotes but accidently went a head in cut to paste something else into loosing all my great writing in response that I had written compared to what written is now)

It still amazes me, it used to be one of the core at heart features of the game for folks to be social, chatting to one another but as the game's own mechanics was sped up and Made easier over time to accomplish objectives, it also seemed to of changed or adjusted the type social game the player is now and it has basically became jump in get objective done and jump out in being none sociable~total silence. I have seen my majority into the types of players through the years as some would actually come into the game to escape the chatting from their daily lives, I guess maybe its the types of personal or business chats they received all day into wanting to use the game as an escape as into a no chat place but they weren't realizing they were coming to game at the time into having one of its primary focuses was to chat and be social.

This "objective" was noble cause to bring it back into the game more but its assertion in detail on how the objectives requirements into the game may be completed was flawed making it miss the mark and creating a loss cause in a reason to have it as an eminanance objective but i'm not saying abolish the objective, I'm saying fix the detailed written requirements required into completing the objective for good fix and meeting its purpose in goal to having it around as an eminence objective to be completed.
I wouldn't doubt this would take quite some time in a lot tinkering and torquing it until you get it just right as well. Good Luck Teams in working on this objective. {just a quote I thought might fit this in matching my written message; "A not well thought out plan is or can be a lost cause" and theres another quote thats a bit longer adding to the end of it: "a lost cause to the objective meant to be originally in place"

Having tried repeatedly to start conversations, get people interested in doing unity stuff etc. and only getting a succession of "1,2" responses I've tried to turn it off...but failed! I've set the chat filter in main chat config to "Hold" and set the Unity filter in both windows to "On" under logs but I still get all the posts that look like a sound check convention...what am I doing wrong folks? How can I stop the spam? It's probably something daft I've done, but it's getting frustrating and with two windows the unnecessary unity noise is clogging up the screen.

    Thanks in advance :-)

If you go to status > Unity you can just turn Unity chat off from there.
