It may just be the character for the group you joined happens to be popular among non-English speakers. Try doing a /yell and asking what others on your server recommend for English players and changing to that group.![]()

Ah, good point. I joined Jakoh.
{it's not my cup of tea but heres the idea}~>they could have a unity chat language filter feature that allows you to only see and speak only to english unity speaking text players and same for the japanese side of the unity chat. there is also a unity turn off feature under the status bar in which i'm positive it's already been mentioned in this thread.
Well I guess may only complaint about the unity chat is the unity eminence chat quest-mission of speaking two different times into the unity group members over using 2 numbers of 1-{see it in U-chat} then 2-{same again} and be done with objective completed without much effort being put in to actually chatting to the unity group. my eyes bleeding announces for weeks of folks just typing 1, 2, it's like children in preschool scrawling on piece of paper of them learning about their first 2 math numbers and I think there should be more details filled in for completing the objective by stating it as chat with a whole sentence, a question, or a greeting with a sentence to meet the group into the unity group should be done for a true fix to the objective.

I'm Wishing to see the Greatness in all players suggesting changes to ffxi ahead, here's to the Future of FFXI, Cheers Mate!!.
This objective serves to motivate players to talk in Unity chat. While it only requires you to chat just twice, we are looking into changing this to just one time, since we feel that would be enough. The amount of points you can receive from this objective has been set relatively low, and with more ways to obtain unity accolades in the future, we didn't want to make anyone feel like they were losing out if they couldn't accomplish this every day. Since this is still a very new system, we do not have any plans at the moment to eliminate this.

Reducing it to 1 could potentially work as that 1 thing can simply be {Hello!}, that in itself is a lot more natural than 1 2 or w/e.
ok so basically....i'm pretty much just gonna have to turn the unity chat off since SE isnt gonna solve the spam issue. i rather not be a part of it. sorry but all the "1,2, and nothing more said" just motivates me to just be more annoyed w/ the players that spam and not use it for its real purpose.
The unity I'm in is more like a bunch of computers talking to each other.

All day long...
You can always turn off Unity Chat. People are always looking for ways to somehow complain.
