    I sometimes get error 3001, it's happened a couple times recently late at night, out of curiosity what is your ISP? I'm on Virgin Media, still not 100% convinced my problem at least is FFXI related as my entire connection just freaks out, for example I stop being able to load youtube as well.

    I live abroad, so it's a foreign IP. But i use a VPN. It's the same VPN I've been using for six months with no problems. The rest of the internet is available, and so is PoL... just stuck at that loading screen after I choose which character to login as.

    Out of curiosity, does this recurring problem just come and go with you? No fix, just wait it out?
