We have received a number of questions regarding an issue wherein security software are removing certain program files (such as FFXI.dll) from the Windows Version of FINAL FANTASY XI.

We are currently experiencing an issue wherein security software are removing certain program files (such as FFXI.dll) from the Windows Version of FINAL FANTASY XI.

After investigating, we were able to confirm that the file “FFXI.dll” is being quarantined by certain security software. We will continue to investigate and work toward recovery of this situation.

The issue may possibly be remedied by making the file “FFXI.dll” an exception from virus scans and such, but because this involves changes to personal settings on your security software, the decision to implement this possible solution will be solely at the player’s discretion. For specific instructions on how to set virus scan exclusions, please consult with the makers of your security software.

We previously confirmed an issue wherein the game file “FFXI.dll” was being removed by some security software. After working with the security software developers, we are pleased to announce that the issue has been resolved.

In cases where the game file was quarantined, we ask that you please update to the latest version of your security software.

We will continue to ensure that other software programs do not cause this issue.

As a preventative measure, users can add the FINAL FANTASY XI files as exceptions in the security software settings. This will prevent the security software from inadvertently removing or quarantining the game files.
