    Square-enix doesn't want you to play with the Japanese.

    SE deliberately left Incursion and Aluvion Skirmish out of the translator because they don't want English speaking people noobing up their new content.

    The Auto-Translate function reached maximum entries a while ago, during Voidwatch IIRC. They have to remove phrases to add new ones now. Usually they don't do that as fast as updates add new events.

    I think incursion would be difficult with a language barrier. I would be uncomfortable doing that event with anyone who wasn't on a voice chat program, much less didn't understand my language. I don't think SE doesn't want different groups to play together though.

    I think SE is a lot more optimistic about mixed-language-groups playing together than the general populace.

    How so? I can't say first hand if the warps are named the same or not in Japanese, but I've yet to do a run where they didn't understand which warp to take. Beyond that, it's just doing your party role, there's not really anything specific strategy wise that would require people to be of the same language, much less requiring voice chat.

    More than the autotranslator... I would like to know why the IME doesn't work on the English client. I could talk to Japanese party members directly, if only SE would let me...

    (FFXIV does let me use other languages, but has regional servers... :/ )

    We give a lot of information while in incursion, which target to take next, which direction to go, slept mobs waking up, etc. It would be a pain if that were lost in the chatlog.

    I don't think the communication is too bad on that, actually. For warps, since everyone has the same warp list (based on the leaders KIs), you look at the list, and say Warp #X. That way they'll warp to that one on the list. Sure, there's a chance for confusion, but it's handle-able. As for targeting, set up an assist for DDs early on. Make sure it's someone who can understand more complicated directions that you can't translate easily (i.e. Go after fodder, then adherents, then NM, or something like that) and then simply autotranslate while targeting the individual, ({/assist} <t> {please}) and you've got your group understanding. Sleeping mobs is a little more tricky, but you can make sure to communicate to your sleepers early on with the same system ({Sleepga} -> {Sleep II} {please}) or something like that to ensure they're on the ball, and then when something wakes up, you can do ({Sleep} <t> X} if you can target the mob, or simply ({Sleep} X} to indicate that sleeps are wearing off on at least one mob.

    A lot of it is going to be reliant on skill as much as it is communication, but with even moderate luck you should have a fair system going with these things. For moving, you simply autotranslate for them to follow, or give a direction. Normally they'll just follow when someone takes the lead, like anyone does. I feel the system is actually pretty useful for communicating terms that don't need to be more complicated than they are. Even things like being prepared for the boss's summoning isn't too bad: ({Mega Boss} {Summoning Magic} -> {Sleepga} {please}). This tells your sleepers that the boss summons something, and to be ready to sleep it. Yes, there will still be the occasional translation barrier here and there, but I feel that there's a good system of communication for simpler things like fighting foes.

    As for the OP's remark, I agree that I wish they'd add those events to Auto-translate in place of some stranger terms like {Are you alone?}. Currently, I do watch for Incursion shouts, and I can usually pick out Incursion by the fact that they use numbers (JP text followed by 123, 124, etc), but I wish there were a solid way of translating that over.

    all that can be done with auto translator. {Defeat this one first!} {/assist} <name> {sleepga} {this way} {north}
