Final Fantasy XIV is bringin back the FFVIII triad card game, FFXI had tetra master (well technically PlayOnline had it and FFIX before that) and I loved it, had at least 1 of every card and it was sooooooooooooo fun. I remember LS members would bust my chops cause they would see that Im online, but on tetra master instead of ffxi. I loved it, the last day it was on was a sad one, yet people were still trying to sell cards in the tetra master auctions thing.

I was happy to pay the $1 a month fee for it, bring it back, I would pay $5 a month just to play it (and no, playing it on FF9 is not the same thing, this version was heavily updated.)

I'm hoping triple-triad in FFXIV isn't CPU based and bound to the toy-chest in inn-rooms. That would be a complete waste.

I think, and I could be remembering completely wrong, that they said it's part of the Golden Saucer that's being added. I'm assuming the place will have a competitive feel to it, so let's hope that translates to us being able to play people and not just the PC. I also don't hope it's people only, sometimes you want to play others, but I'm sure sometimes we'll just want a quick/easy match against the PC (in case we get low on cards and need to win some quickly.)

Tetra master def wont ever come back to playonline but it should definitely live on in some other form, either as a standalone game (think hearthstone) with new features or as a phone app as others have suggested. I would have played Tetra Master a lot more than I did if it 1) didn't cost extra money to play and 2) I could play it while playing FFXI at the same time. I think the latter is pretty much what doomed it to failiure, rather than whether or not the game was fun.
