    Training Dummy - A Mog Garden idea.

    Hello Square, players, and etc!

    Theres a lot of heated debate about job performance and such, which DD is better... and a lot of this can be calculated well with spreadsheets and such, because lets face it... game boils down to math, right? Well, I want to suggest something that will help the average player, as well as some hardcore too.

    ==A Training dummy! ==
    Now how this would work is, You could add this device to a Mog Garden (Perhaps on the beach), allowing up to 2 to be placed, or just giving us two. You could set their level by talking to a nearby Moogle or even a new helper... Levels could be, to keep it simple.

    Level 1
    Level 99
    Level 119
    Level 129

    Now, this would just artificially inflate/deflate the Dummy's stats, making it equivalent to these levels. I don't want this to allow you to skill up on them (Because SE has always been adamantly against a non-fighting "skill up" dummy), but more simply a means to test different builds in a static enviornment.

    ==Why this would help==
    When new items are released, a lot of the times they have minor difference, and a lot of the times special bonuses. Now-adays most of these bonuses are spelled out, but its also nice to have something to test your builds on. Will you use the Staff with Magic Damage +220 and MAB +30? or the Staff with MAB+230 and MAB+20? Which tier of nuke does one beat the other? So forth... A lot of hard-core math experts here could figure this out pretty quickly, but wouldn't it be nice for the average player to have a place to do this, in the privacy of their own mog house?

    This would go a long way into helping educate players of all levels on what builds they could use, the differences in WS/TP sets and visibly see how it impacts their WS Damage, the testing of new fTP mods and such for weaponskills (when added), the bonuses of "Enhances Elemental Weaponskill damage" type effects (Belts/Gorgets, and such if new ones are added)... There are a lot of things you could potentially do.

    This will also go a long way in helping Pet jobs determine whats the best builds for their pets as well, as well as the minor damage diferences in certain pieces of equipment, which can be a lot of micro-managing for jobs like SMN, BST, and PUP.

    ==Things you could add.==
    More so, the Dummy could lose HP as you punch it, Perhaps giving it 100,000hp, and once it hits 0, It will reset to full instantly (like fortifications) and you'll get a chatlog message explaining the details of your effort, such as:

    Your Accuracy
    Your Critical hit rate
    Your Ranged Accuracy
    Your Ranged Critical hit rate
    Your Average WS Damage.
    Time It took to kill the dummy. (rough idea of your DPS)

    Allowing the dummy's stats to be adjusted manual to some degree would be nice as well... higher magic defense, higher defense, or evasion (to test accuracy builds), and so forth.

    Again, this will be an excellent tool for both pros and not so pro players. Hopefully you see the benefit and ease of adding such a device, and can consider adding it to the Mog Garden in the future.

    Thanks!

    While this is a good idea, try not to go too overboard on the suggestion, haha. Any sort of thing like this would be greatly appreciated.

    Indeed, a few things could be optional, but the base idea being added to the list of helpful things in the Mog Garden would be nice.

    Adding it anywhere else in the world is okay with me (like XIV), just some sterile enviornment in which to test builds against each other for people who don't use math or those spreadsheets and such.

    You might be thinking of the Galka dude who suggested the Gyms of Vana'diel... the one who made all these fancy sigs including mine. I believe he was looking to add more of a skill up object, this is just for testing builds/maths, not skilling up. Strictly educational if you will.

    Other than him, no, I don't remember an idea like this in recent memory... >_____> does it matter?

    Yes that would be the Galka and the post. I don't remember it being a skill up only thing though, but also what you're asking for here. Would have to dig that lengthy post up lol.
