Returning Player after 7 years - Add-ons Worth Buying?

I have recently returned to Vana'diel after 7 years - left during TOAU and would like to know if WOTG and any of the six add-ons are still worth doing? Additionally, can these expansions/add-ons be soloed?

I am interested in playing all of the content from a story standpoint and would love new gear for my L75 RDM but am only interested in solo play while I re-acclimate my self to FFXI.

    Thanks!

I highly recommend simply buying the ultimate collection, and obtaining all the addons for a pretty low pricetag, there's too many small, corner cases for gear to mention for these, many are still relevant at times, especially abyssea, most of them can be soloed with sparks and adoulin gear, and some have great stories.

Assuming you pick the right jobs for the right fights, yes, everything save SoA can be soloed. (That said, till you get Atma, Aby probably won't be.) This does assume 99, not 75. (Possibly some iLevel gear.)

Are they worth doing? Well, you wanted story. So yes? (Also WotG: Windy story == AMAZING).

And just buy the new SoA collection, cheaper than buying each add-on and you aren't going to find WotG.

Exciting to hear good things about WOTG as I do not know much of anything about it! I am thinking to solo with Trusts till around 90ish and then finish up my TOAU missions. So much to learn after 7 years

Wings of the Goddess ends with a customizable earring, one of the most notable augmentations being Refresh +1 when weapon is not drawn. Very nice, especially for SMNs. The story is also one of the best in the entire game, perhaps surpassing CoP due to some of CoP's long-windedness.

The Abyssea add-ons are a must for leveling up post-75.

The 3 story add-ons are mostly just for story now, but you may be able to find some useful augments there. I like movement +8 pants from A Shantotto Ascension.

One of the most notable augmentations being TP Bonus +25(0), which is a huge boon to most weaponskills in the game.

I recommend buying the Ultimate collection as well, specially considering you actually want to enjoy the storylines. As for solo gameplay once you get lvl 99 and Sparks gear you'll be able to solo everything up to the latest SoA missions (SoA with the help of Trust NPCs that is) without much problem as RDM.

Scenario quest lines are fun to play and the stories are good too, same with WotG, Abyssea and SoA. So you will have quite a lot of content to enjoy for a while. And by the way, I recommend completing all the nation quest arcs from WotG instead of only advancing one, the stories alone are worth the extra time spent and you get some rewards too.

Best of luck getting back into the game. d(^^d)

Just a warning, on some servers there are no Abyssea worm parties going on,
On cerberus abyssea is almost empty.
You practically have to solo to 99 , which is very slow and boring . imo
