I think 7 like campaign would be a good balance. One tag per day is just fine. It's not hard to coordinate a small group to do a few runs on say a weekend. But three is just a serious pain. It makes it difficult to set up a regular time/date because you're either eating doing just three runs on a weekend, or spending a lot of time preparing/preparing twice a week. Kinda rough on people who have day jobs.

This is just part of the overhaul that old content needs.

Back when ToAU came out, I loved the imagination that went into the Assault Missions. They weren't necessarily combat based, taking advantage of the many character and NPC interactions that FFXI could offer, and many could be accomplished with just a few friends you knew.

Its way past time to do away with the tags. Give us one key item that will allow us to enter, or, at the very least increase our tag frequency. By the way, Apkallu Seizure is even more horrible then Imperial Agent Rescue.

The reward of helping people get Captain Rank is getting Captain Rank for yourself.
I've helped more people rank up over the years than I care to count, yet i'm still 4 assaults from Captain. I can't help but feel I'd be captain if the rank up system and the time restrictions weren't so brutal. IMHO they need to change the rank up system to require less points to rank up. I'd like to see the timer for tags lowered to 16 hours instead of 24 hours. Maybe reward some IS too for the completion of Assaults.

Something, anything to ease the requirements a bit. Next to Abyss the requirements and wait times for Assault seem ridiculous now.

Don't know why theres even debating anymore.

SE has already said they can't "Do away with tags" or increase how many we can hold or let them "charge" like Traverser Stones (apparently).

They did say, However, They're going to adjust the charge time for them so we get tags more often.

I agree with the OP here...
I played since 2006 and How I done my assaults back before abyssea. I made a Static of 6/6 players.
The Assaults I done the most was "Ranking Assaults", but I also done Nyzle Isle and got my Askar Body which I still wear today.

I enjoyed assaults and Still do today, but only thing that REALLY, and I mean "REALLY KILLS IT FOR ME" is the fact that I have to wait 24hours in RL, to get an ID Army tag, just to get another chance for doing an Assault mission. Specially a mission that I lost with a group of friends I used to static with.

What I enjoy about assaults is the fact that each NPC gives you different assault missions with different objectives, and each Objectives has different challenges. You have like 30 minutes for each mission to complete and that alone made the challenge a lot of fun because you are being timed to complete. It made you "RUSH" the missions in a way where you need to execute the strategy right before timed out. What made Assaults Ranking missions really fun for me was also the fact that they reward you with Assault points that allows you to purchase rewards from that specific NPC. The Ranking process is a lot of fun as you win, but the "WAITING SYSTEM- Per assault ID Tag" Just sucks!

I log on to play an MMORPG game with friends when I want and whenever I wish. Why should I be limited in how often I am able to do an event that I truly enjoy?

I think they should remove this limitation of 1 ID tag per RL day and make it like the Abyssea "Stone system" where you wait 8 hours to get ID tag and it piles up to, god knows how many lol.

    Either that, or

At least make it that if you do "Lose" an Assault mission, your ID tag doesn't get "consumed", that way, it only gets "consumed" only when you actually "win" the mission.

I'd like to at least go with my friends and keep trying till I win before calling it a night. I do not want to try and lose and wait 1 RL day to do it again. "waiting" is time consuming and Time Consuming elements like this does not equal up to challenge. The Real Challenge is the assault mission which I really wana have a chance to keep trying till I figure out a good strategy that works to win.

Before you tell me "Why not just get 1 ID tag, and wait 3 RL days to have 4 ID tags before you do assaults? That way you can do 4 Assault missions with your friends whenever you want?"

Thats the problem... I DONT want to wait RL days just so I can enjoy one of my favorite Events with my friends.
That problem there, alone, is enough to make me not want to do assaults anymore.

I'm a Gamer, and I like to Game when I log on.
Give me More Challenges, and less time consuming elements. Give me enjoyable events like Assaults that are fun and rewarding without having a waiting penalty just because of a "Mission Failure".

Again, More Challenges, and less time consuming elements = More fun! Yes please!
