Why can't we have another server merge? It's nearly impossible to find help for anything because some of these servers are dead and dont have enough people. A server merge would probably help a whole lot.

Arrapago remnants congestion says no.
Although I liked your post, the arrapago server congestion daily maint was only really on 3 servers. If the rest are empty, I see no reason why they can't be merged with ech other... Just as long as they're not merged with the already busy ones.
- Phoenix,
- Bahamut
- Shiva
- Carbuncle
- Odin
- Quetzalcoatl
- Ragnarok
- Lakshmi iirc were the main culprits for daily maint. Some more often than others.
Edit: and I just noticed that the OP is on Phoenix... there's no issues with a lack of people on Phoenix, unless he only plays at JP time, in which case he'll have the same issue on any server. Just need to find a decent LS. If you're prepared to help others, others will help you (unless they're dicks).

Because it's bad PR.
FFXIV also needs server merges on many of them but they won't do it there either.
There for awhile, Bahamut had maintenance 2-3 times a day on AR.
I don't really see a server merge in the future.
If someone wants to go to a more populous server, they can transfer servers but that's really all I see.
XIV doesn't need merges either if you take a look at the site that shows you the break down in server pops how many of each mount ect there is there probably isn't a server that is as low as the lowest server for XI. Yes, I know it needs an updating but the numbers are fairly close. Some servers on XI might feel empty or dead due to not being spread out as much. Along with the player base not wanting to risk failure on certain fights so they try not to pug them. Or they only ask for jobs people half asleep can't even screw up on. It sucks a lot. Specially if you get on at non peak hours for your area or don't get to get on often.
I think you need to read that site a little more.
That simple shows XIV linkshell players, most of whom do not play anymore.
It's not a list of active players at all. I know the state of many of the servers on XIV because I played it for a long while, both games need server mergers but they won't do it because it's seen as a negative at a time when they are trying to push the positive.
Site creators post on her redit.
The numbers are worthless, as worthless as working out population numbers based on FFXIAH.There's no way to determine who's an active player or not - sadly Lodestone returns ALL players - so I get about 3 million level 1 RMT and bots. A tiny fraction of them are 'active players' who aren't in an FC, and the rest are FC players who may be alts, or on some sort of long leave.
At least with FC players you know there's a chance a human being you can play with is behind the character.

What she should of done is what a JP player did long ago, scrape the database and then do it again 30 days later. Compare the 2 results and ones that have changed are active, those that are the same are inactive. She instead chose a method that was pointless, other than to give false positive information.

Yup. Also just use the restrictive search option in game in FFXIV and you start to get a feel for the true population which in fact can be lower, about tied, and higher than FFXI servers. Depends on your server there I'm sure but on mine it's a lower pop than my server in FFXI which is all kinds of lol and this was ages ago when I checked. Everyone got their fill the first 6 months in and now most jumped ship >.> And if WoW taught us anything, and assuming which is a fair assumption that most of the quitters were involved with WoW at some point, then it will not be shocking whatsoever if they suddenly materialize in FFXIV again upon expansion additions. They haven't been doing it all that hardcore for plain updates but it's the expansions where I figure they'll come back for a short time then be gone again.
That's essentially the target audience SE wanted when they designed ARR. I'm still debating cancelling it. I have 87 days to decide(because I forgot and SE sets it to auto renewal soooo I got stuck with another 6 months sub....) and most of my former friends in XI that went to XIV to become my current XIV friends have already largely abandoned the game, and these are people that played FFXI for years without stop and were heavily digging XIV until they got bored with it >.> I don't know. I'm just saying, let's not kid ourselves that XIV is doing great and FFXI has passed the crown to it. From my eyes XI is steadily showing the brilliance of Tanaka, if only it existed long enough for FFXI to happen, and FFXIV is struggling to hold the interests of anyone who takes MMOs seriously. FFXIV shoulda just been the standard freebie MMORPG. It was designed that way. All it needed was a cash grab store to complete the transformation.
That game doesn't really benefit from a server merge. It's a very bad thing to server merge over there. Despite lower pops than FFXI that thing still only has so many things to do and everyone is doing those things. But here though...man it's a win/lose situation as always. You can find others easier to do things but the tradeoff is more congestion. I'm not sure congestion is worth feeling great when I /sea and see 5k people online because everyone wants to log in to their new server but then never logs back in again and instead of 1k pops we see 2k? Is 2k really that much of an improvement? When the game is top heavy server merges can be curses. Only reason it's not worse than it is now after last merge is because so many have left the game.
As I have said before I feel that the players moving away has largely ended. What's left are the players who don't long for something else. You merge now and servers top heavy pops double, with little hope of them ever thinning out. Just think about that. I mean there's good in merges but there's bad, too. Maybe these days there's alittle too much bad to be worth the merging. We're only human. We will be tempted to say screw it if one day we can't do what we wanted to do because once upon a time we used to do it but then server merges happened and yeah.
