FFXI Error Code 3001

Hello, I have recently changed my internet from normal broadband to fiber-optic broadband. With this came a new router which I have yet to fully configure yet, however after making all configuration changes that I could think of which pertain to internet gaming, I am still receiving a frequent time-out error when changing areas in FFXI.

Description of the problem:

Upon changing areas, quite frequently the screen goes dark (as normal) however the loading data animation appears for significantly longer periods of time, and subsequently times out with a 3001 error. I am attributing this to configuration problems on my own equipment.

Could I please be provided with any any all connection information required for FFXI/Playonline services to work correctly please?

Platform played on is PC.
PC is Home built.
ISP is Tiscali.
Operating System is Windows 7 Professional (x64)
Graphis Card is an ATI Radeon Sapphire HD 7970 VAPOR-X GHZ Edition

Is it possible I could have some feedback on this issue please? It's really getting in the way of my gaming, as I'm being disconnected when zoning on a very regular basis.
