We're not asking to "become another job" we are asking for longer buff durations for self buffs, Kensagaku. The reason we are asking for something like composure is because in the other thread mods told us they didn't want to increase buff duration because they were worried we would diffusion it. An ability similar to composure would eliminate that concern.

Their "solution" was allowing us to set more spells to get "fast cast" - which is a) also a "rdm thing" & b) not an actual fix & c) a terrible idea.

Says the guy who doesn't know jack about blu. All your fix sandspin, blood sabre takes to long to cast, sprout smack additional affect don't work. Yet you couldn't list one lvl 75+ spell in your rant. I don't know your main job but as for a blu your not taken seriously and area disgrace.

I didn't finish that thread because it got a response - they said they were not going to fix older BLU spells, just add new ones. Seemed kind of pointless to continue at that point. The reason the ones I listed are lower level is because I was going through the list in order. I had no time to finish before the response.

Also I have never posted on bgwiki, not sure who you are confusing me for. And hilarious to get told "learn to play" by the guy who is infamous for suggesting melee scholar is THE WAY TO PLAY.

Of course I'm not going to use feather barrier, at 30 seconds and some sad little boost to evasion, that's the point, its broken. Why would you be against fixing older spells? BLM uses spells they get before level 20 at level 99 - why would BLU just abandon old spells - many of which we HAVE to set to get our melee attack boosts. Just because a spell isn't over level 75 doesn't mean that it should be BROKEN.

Blue Mage is the ONLY mage job expected to abandon their lower level spells completely - and WORSE, we have to set many of the same broken spells to get the abilities that other jobs simply take for granted. I don't see how anyone wouldn't think that was a problem.

As for "knowing jack about BLU" the consensus in the buff thread from BLUs that participated was that adding more tiers to our half-arse fast cast/making buffs cast faster WAS NOT a solution. That's not just me saying so - that's pretty much everyone who is participating in the discussion.

And of course I'd love for barbed cres, Tourbillion etc to work. Duh. That said, my ideal situation is where ALL our spells work, ALL our spells have damage that scales, ALL our spells have MP costs that are commensurate with their actual power (rather than some fever dream). I'll take the stale cookie of just a couple fixes if I have to, but I'd much rather have a gooey, fresh from the oven, delicious cookie of REAL FIXES for the job.

Anyway, it's fine to disagree but the personal attacks and misrepresentations are unnecessary.

Let's not fight, folks; this is a place to have a reasonable discussion.

As for the fact that we need higher BLU buff duration, I agree, Olor. I don't think a BLU Composure would do it, however. If I may make another recommendation to make this work with their fear of Diffusing buffs (on a 10 minute timer? Really?).

Increase buff durations overall by spell. Diffusion, however, will halve the duration of the buff cast, including on the BLU. My argument is that, by spreading the spell out over the party, it's not quite as long-lasting, so it would be shorter. We can simply recast on ourselves - to get a better duration while giving buffs to others - and when Diffusion is down, we still have access to our longer-duration buffs. It would make us more potent buff-wise, and not remove the use of Diffusing buffs. Sure, it's not as good as a main job's haste or refresh depending on the situation, but we also offer unique buffs - Warm-Up gives Acc/Evasion+, Nature's Meditation gives an Attack+ that stacks with things like Berserk, etc.

So in short, I think that if we can fix our durations, and just add a penalty to Diffusion to make it less threatening to SE's concept of balance, we can maintain our unique spot without having to delve into the abilities of other jobs.
