We’ve determined an issue with skill chain damage as of the May version update, and below is a message from Akihiko Matsui in regards to this.

In the recent version update no changes were made to the skill chain resist rates or enemy evasion, but upon investigating reports we’ve been receiving, we determined that there is a bug with skill chain resists.

This bug is in actuality a bug we confirmed a few years back where skill chain damage would no longer be resisted for some unknown reason. The cause seemed to change from time to time so we were unable to make a definitive statement, and it was extremely difficult to understand what was going on because if the issue appeared there were times where it could not be reproduced right away.

After the version update took place we received comments from players stating that skill chain damage became easier to resist, and I’m speculating that it’s incidentally because this bug did not show up after the version update.

The team has looked into fixing this issue; however, the fix would make it seem like skill chains were weakened and since we originally planned to revamp the formulas for skill chain resists in the June version update, we’ve decided to keep it the way it is currently.

I just wanted to let you all know the current state of this issue and our plans for the future.
