All of the Final Fantasy Tactics games have jumping of a sort, pretty sure there's even a Jump stat.
Leaping Boots will rise again!
Although it would take a lot of work on Se's side. I don't think there would be a problem with jumping, I'm not really for or against it. There is nothing in the game currently that I wish so badly I could jump over, that I can't just go around. I do think I would rather SE put adding jumping as a very low priority though, there's a lot of other things I'd rather see first.

Vertical movement is not necessary in any video game. Go back to QQing.
I wouldn't care if they let people jump in ffxi
that being said I would hope they concentrate on making lvl 99 content playable and fun instead of a jump feature
Jumping has many legitimate uses, especially in this game where every tiny little object seems to get in your way.
I really hate people using the excuse "people will jump around like idiots for no reason." The immaturity of a few people is not a good reason to not have a feature.
On a side note, in FFXIV they were considering adding jumping.
It would be nice to get over some obstacles in the game.. like i always get stuck on the stairs in ordelle's cave and and the leujaoam sanctum assault zones.
I don't think it should be a priority right now.. especially with all the big changes they are making and with there not even being endgame content atm... I would hope they spend time on content instead of gimmicks like a jump feature.
