Had just came back from about a year or two away, checked with the NPC mentioned above to see how far in I had gotten before I quit on the quest to get my Lu shangs Fishing Rod. Initially he had said I'd traded him 6486 fish, so after 2 days of fishing, traded in 368 Moat carp and an extra 10 from a Creel Of Moat Carp (I think?) from the login campaign and all of a sudden he said i'd traded him over 11k worth of fish. Thought maybe that was a bug or something since there's no way I could have jumped that high. So I waited till the following day after JP midnight and checked again, still said i'd handed him over 11k fish. So I decided to go fish up a few extra fish and see if that did anything. Traded over another 30 fish and now he's telling me I traded him 19176 Moat carp. So I spoke to the NPC Ufanne just behind him and she says i've collected 1153 for him. Now I've no idea how many i've actually traded or how close I am anymore and considering just giving up on trying to do the quest since i've no actual idea just how close or far I am from doing it now.

Ufanne is the one who tells you the amount you have collected.

I believe the number Gallijaux told you is the server total (re-set by maintenances).
