This has been a long standing issue, I don't know if they can do anything about it.

One simple 'workaround' would be to have the game refrain from redrawing equipment while your cursor is on them. Once your cursor moves away, it would be free to draw it, or wait until the next change, either or wouldn't affect healers anymore.

I agree wholeheartedly with this change though, sometimes I target a character, by the time I actually push the macro, he disapears, losing focus. Sometimes the timing is so terrible that I end up wasting MP and recast timers on myself instead. Or on someone else that decided to cast on me (not having a target makes you auto-target the one casting/attacking you).

Similarly, when a character is just 'outside' of the targetting range, you can still target them for a split second, but it resets you to directly. Why can't the game either skip them or target them? I use controller arrows to target my teammates often (up and down on d-pad), and when trying to get to the 6th party member, if the 3rd one is at such a range, it keeps disrupting it and returns to me instead.

I don't remember if you lose focus when using <ST>, but that's not a terribly good solution either as it doesn't make it easier or faster to target the one you want. Keeping your tank in target is more efficient, except if he's blinking constantly.

If you did this then all those JP who spazz out like they have a mental disorder when checked wouldn't be able to have their way, I'd love to see them agonize over this if it were ever implemented. There's one on our server who's especially racist and vocal towards anyone who checks her out. Her bazaar message even openly states that she "Hates you."

    yup yup

    /ma "Cure V" <stal>
    /equip <gear swaps>

Adjust accordingly for the tier of cure spell. Use it on SMN too...it's a blessing when you are using your Avatars to fight too (or, <gasp> fighting as well, like going for proc on NM's)--you can stay locked on to the mob and still cure everyone.

<stal>Learn it, Use it, love it.

I still see this comment a lot. I had to explain it to a LS member who's been playing for eight years and is way more accomplished than I. Whether the OP is serious or not, For the benefit of anyone who doesn't know yet...

<stpt> targets a party member, but only using a blue cursor in the party member list, without the on-screen targeting arrow over the character. As a result, there is no loss of focus when the target blinks.

The one annoyance is you will be able to target the name in the list regardless of where the character is in the zone, no matter how far they are away from you. You can still confirm the selection if they are halfway across the zone, and it will produce an error in the chat log.

The other bother is if you still do Besieged or Campaign and want to cure people outside a party or alliance, which, I think, still requires <stpc>, or <st> if you want to allow for NPCs. This is one reason I have a separate macro book for Campaign/Besieged.

<stal> is similar but targets an alliance member. I prefer <stpt> in party-only spells like Regen, just so I'm not allowed to accidentally target an alliance member when it won't work on them. I use <stal> for spells like Haste and Cure.

I also like <lastst> when I want to avoid some problems with my own blinking during gear swapping when there's some lag. For example, I want FC gear before RDM enhance spells. This:

    /equip head "Warlock's Chapeau"
    /ma Haste <stal>
    /equip <enhancement spell duration gear>

... in laggy areas sometimes loses my <stal> target because it's still blinking me when it's trying to create the blue party arrow. I don't know if this is a system specific issue but I only noticed it with lag. But this works well for me:

    /target <stal>
    /equip head "Warlock's Chapeau"
    /ma Haste <lastst>
    /equip <enhancement spell duration gear>

The game stores my target, equips my hat, then starts casting on the stored target.

You can check people so that their gear swap does not close the window.
