    Low Resultion windows 7 x64 i5 processor

I'm running FFXI on windows 7 x64 bit but when i go to the config options to change the resultion to the highest possible it doesnt seem to have any effect in game, aswell as changing it to windowed mode. When i get into playing FFXI i find that i cant change the aspect ratio from 4:3 to any other and the bar just flickers on me. Is there any way to fix these problems?

Are you using the Win7 compatible version of POL or the basic WinXP install from disc? The Win7 compatible POL is downloadable from playonline.com if you aren't using it.

Through the confinement of Valefor I found myself in the depths of Hades. It was there that I was thrown into Cerberus' Den. Only through Carbuncle's light could I find my way.

afoia, everyone will get the POL-1160 error message now as the servers are down and you cannot connect at all. Currently it is estimated servers will be down for a week. For further information on the situation, please read this thread <--click for link

    Afoia,

Please keep in mind that there are two different resolution options within the FINAL FANTASY XI Config tool.

The first option is the ‘Overlay Graphics Resolution,’ which is your User Interface and its associated features. The second option is the Background Resolution, which is the character models, world models, and the like. The available resolutions for both selections varies dependant on your system, so we recommend picking whatever choices work best for your setup.

Unfortunately FINAL FANTASY XI does not have an option for a 16:9 or ‘widescreen’ mode at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thanks for the information, however i'm now getting issues where the game is crashing on me when I launch FFXI. I only get to watch the opening cinematic and the game crashes only to display "programme not responding" window, then it locks my computer and i have to restart.
I count myself as a patient guy, but the lengths i've had to go to get this game work have been ridiculous. If i cant get it working after this, then i give up.
