xbox disconnect in 4 min

after playing for 2 days without trouble I now disconnect after 4 minutes. It doesn't matter where I am , what I am doing. I play on valfore server. Also if i stay on the first play final fantasy xi page the same thing happens. I contacted xbox like the one page says and they had no help for this problem. If I keep trying I might stay connected, but it might take 4 or more hours of disconnecting and logging in.

When I have that disconnect problem, I log completely out of the game, then log back in. In fact, that happened to me earlier today as well. But yeah, just log out, shutdown your system, then restart your system, and log in.

If you are continuing to have this problem, reset your internet modum. It could just need a reboot.

thanks KorPoni but I have tried both of those solutions without any success. I know of one ls member has trouble with the game freezing up and uses an Ipod to get the game running again. I'm trying to find a friend that has one and try that. I welcome any and all ideas to solving this problem. i'm begining to wonder if it is that disc reading problem they talked about but why 4 minutes every time?

The Ipod trick you were wondering about is easy. I have to do it all the time as my Xbox will freeze up after 2-12 hours of play.

You have to hook an Ipod up to your Xbox. Go to music player & play a song off your Ipod. Then go back to the main Xmb & load FFXI. This will trick playonline into actually running & give you the message that "the system was shutdown incorrectly & may have corrupt files." just pick to run playonline viewer & start the game as normal. Works like a charm.

I suggest that you load FFXI then before your 4 minutes are up shut the system down without logging out. When you try to play FFXI again your Xbox will tell you that FFXI is an "unreadable disc". Then do the Ipod trick & you are set.

Another trick is to just play a song off your Xbox HDD. Do it the same way as the Ipod trick just by playing music off the Xbox HDD instead of an Ipod.

I had my 2006 one fail recently. I replaced it with a new 360s unit.
I know I can't complain about it because it actually served me from 2008 until december 2010 (I bought it used wow I know I'm lucky).

well using a song from the HDD didn't solve anything. I don't get a bad disc or unreadable disc. I just get knocked off and get different pol error codes. This morning I logged in and no trouble, this afternoon trouble again. I am reinstalling the software again with a fresh instal to see what happens, wish me luck.

Naaa Xbox freezing is just a problem with FFXI, and only happens when clicking a maw. flux npc or warping from abyssea.

I have a 2010 model Xbox, brand new & has done this since i got it. Hope they fix it soon though.

after i log in i get disconnected after 4 minutes. I am playing on xbox 360. I tried xbox phone number that you provided and they could not help. I sometimes can stay in game when it is late at night, sometimes. The first two days i installed the game i was able to play, but after that I get disconnected after 4 minutes. Today I installed the game on a pc and have the same problem. I have a brand new router and a brand new wireless adapter just to rule them out. I cant figure out why this character disconnects when my other charecter on a different content id has no problem on a pc. like i said this is everyday since it started which was two days before the servers went down so it doesnt appear to have a bearing on the problem.
