I used to see the Gold World Pass rewards as sort of veteran rewards. Considering there's no point in using world passes anymore, could some of the rewards from that be open to other players now?

I've been a paying member for 10 years, never missed a month, and I still didn't get any active adventure "appreciation" campaign codes from December. All I got is an "escalated" support ticket for months now. When is SE going to "appreciate" the many NA players that didn't get their codes? Any word on when we're gonna get those? Any word at ALL on this issue?
Then keep playing and become one?
I'm sorry, but I don't see how a new player not being qualified to receive "veteran rewards" for the "veteran rewards program" is a problem. If you are a new player, you are not a veteran. If I were to join another MMO that has a veteran rewards program today, it wouldn't cross my mind to go crying on their forums because I can't get that veteran mount, veteran silly hat or whatever.
I've been playing XI for around 10 years now, almost without interruptions, and I do consider myself a veteran. By no means this makes me feel entitled to special treatments or rewards, mind you. But I do feel that the dev team should not be surprised if requests like this pop up from time to time considering how long XI has been around.
I do not think I would enjoy veteran gifts, much like I do not enjoy region-specific gifts or in-game items tied to real-life items (statues via CDs and so on and so forth).
If anything, I would want a discount, or/and a free year or few after paying for so long (7 years and counting, and about half of those, if not more, I paid double because of two (2) accounts). Heck, the game really could use a drop on the monthly fee. Whether or they could keep the game running then, is another story, but I would not be surprised if it would see more users that way.
I know I would likely reactivate my secondary account if it wasn't so expensive.
And seriously, considering the lack of support and care on many aspects, I really don't feel like my money is being well spent here.
Apologies for that mini-rant. Moving on now!
Whilst I otherwise agree, I do not much enjoy the log-in campaigns.
The idea is well and good, but having it require users to log in every day is where it takes a leap backwards, I feel. One might guess that it's designed in such fashion merely to have people stay subscribed continuously, without any breaks.
Well, that's obvious for any business I guess. I would really like it, however, if there was another way to garner full points. Perhaps something one could do in a day or few, some errands to run that would cover up to 22 or so days of logging in. I would much prefer that as it would be less stressful, or something like that.
I'm not saying the do-nothing-but-log-in method should be removed; having options is always nice, I think, and I rather take care of stuff in chunks. I'm horrible at little by little.
At least it's not another gobbie mystery-boxes (I do feel sorry for those gobbies... I wish they had something else to do).
Blubb!
...or so the legend says.
Hi Camate,
I feel that's the point of "veteran" reward system. Why would everyone be eligible?? That's contradictory. I think we need to stop trying to level the ground so much, what happened to individuality?
I don't think the military promotes privates to lieutenant the first day on the job. You get recognition for your service and time/experience.
I played and paid for 11 years, where's my thanks for personally spending $2000 in subscriptions lol. Bob played and paid for 3 years, why are we worried about Bob getting the same veteran reward as me? Just do a point system. Heck, you can even base it off playtime, you guys are already tracking that. You also track the months paid by character.

Why are we constantly asking for freebie stuff??? Is this people's mentality is today? That they are entitled to something for free just because?
If you're a "vetran" already, you probably have already gotten all the 'rewards' that you need for this game.
I think a lot of people who play this game has the mentality that things should be easy (to the point where they get things for free on a regular basis). One of the major difference this game have vs all the other MMOs (especially all the ones that came and gone in a flash) is that this game used to be 'extremely' unforgiving. And that winning (battle or drop) takes a lot of patience, hard work, team work and unfortunately a lot of LUCK (noticed I did use the word 'used to be'). They've already dumb down this game to there point where it is almost just as boring as all the MMOs that had came and gone. [part of the hard work could be making enough gil to upgrade your gears, getting through all the running/beating the lower tier battles/cs/missions,etc so it's not a specific 1 time hard work but rather a cumlative hard work].
I dont understand and dont know what freebie stuff all these ppl want that is 'worthwhile' to have to the point where it becomes pointless to playing this game anymore.
We're not asking for useful free powerful items. Just asking for recognition for our subscription. I just want an in game t-shirt or something lol, or furniture items would be nice, like a plaque. That's about it. Being played for this long we already know what it's like to work for your things. If people played for the 11 years, they are likely older people now and not an instant gratification spoiled kid. At least I'd hope one isn't![]()

Can we get accessories to dress up our avatars? I would love to put a Christmas hat on Ramuh!
I'd like to think that the fact that square is still supporting this game (even though they have a more modern mmo title) and the population has plummeted over the past few years is appreciation enough for us folks who still love the game. I mean shoot, there is nothing forcing us to play this game and Square doesn't exactly need this game anymore.
My point of view is that if I could have any "veteran reward" it would be that this game can stick around for another 10 years or more. But that would mean some serious overhauls on the outdated and sluggish engines that have been inhibiting the developers from implementing some truly user-friendly improvements and balancing. So I can care less about getting goodies because I've played for a long time. I want to see stuff that attracts new players, not just old ones.
SE is still making a lot of money off FFXI, we aren't being "graced the with opportunity" to play the game. Reading the forums over the years, some people I've noticed have customer service very backwards. I, myself can appreciate the creations of someone else and still constructively criticize their creation if I've purchased it. Why? Because I paid for that creation and continue to pay a small portion in its future development and whether or not I'm going to continue to enjoy it. My account may not entitle me the world but it definitely entitles my feedback, or else how else can you measure success.
If they can't get a system like "Adventurer Appreciation" to go off without a hitch, I'd hate to add another veteran reward system. I'd honestly like them just to address everyone (including myself) who didn't receive codes and find a way to fix it instead of sweeping it under the rug.

He is not an outsider in our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favor by serving him. He is doing us a favor by giving us an opportunity to do so." -Mahatma Gandhi
