    Odyssey and Sortie are basically the only content where it makes sense to lose exemplar points. You can gain exemplar points against the normal monsters, and they're basically the harsh dangerous endgame event. This is like asking for experience point loss to be removed from Dynamis in the 75 cap days.

    The problem here is that getting exemplar points back afterward is too onerous because the rate of loss is too high and the rate of gain is too low. That is what needs correcting.

    I agree, rather than removing any consequences for death/failiure, exemplar points/master levels themselves need to be adjusted instead.

    Oh, actually, instead of being all wah wah this is bad fix it, why don't I try to be constructive.

    Let's assume that the master level grind is where SE wants it. Which... is dumb, it's content for bots not players, but okay. 2% of tnl isn't a super unreasonable proportion, it's just that the numbers get so out of control because of the scale of it.

    What if players received +50% (or even +100%?) exemplar points while below the highest value they previously held on a job? So grinding for the levels is still a slow tedious process that no human will willingly undergo, but at least recovering them afterward is a little less harsh (while still being a significant deterrent for zombie fighting and homepointing rather than waiting for raises.)

    You are offering the tiresome false dichotomy fallacy, misrepresenting my request to lessen an extreme as a request to change it into the opposite extreme.

    No, a fully developed character in FFXI is quite a bit more than just a bunch of level cap quests. There are endless mission and quest lines that have to be completed. A character that merely has level 99 on a job has unlocked only a tiny fraction of the overall content. Letting people who have already done level cap quests on a main character skip them on characters on the same account is NOT tantamount to a copy character button.

    I stand by my request; it would be extremely reasonable to let characters on the same account skip level cap quests with an ex but deliverable item that could be purchased from Maat.

    There's nothing false about it. You are essentially arguing that all characters after your first should instantly get whatever level 99s you got for free.

    Hell most other MMOs that offer anything like that at least make you pay money for it.

    It is not in any way reasonable at all.

    Even if that's all youre asking for, despite previously saying you should be able to send a level skip item to alts, I fail to see the point in this. It's not hard to do those quests, just do them. I find these constant "trivialize the game" suggestions just as tiresome as you find not-false dichotomy. It also speaks volumes about people playing the game like it's a job rather than enjoying exploring and doing things in vana'Diel.

    Those roadblocks exist for a reason.

    The title of this thread is "quality of life improvements", i.e. improvements that make the game a little more enjoyable by reducing nuisances and time wastes.

    Those who enjoy zoning delays would still be perfectly free to teleport to the existing points outside to enter those two zones.

    So it's a matter of closeness. In other words, the time required to get there.

    It is fine. It's not a big deal, a few seconds of black screen never hurt anybody.



    Those who enjoy zoning delays would still be perfectly free to teleport to the existing points outside to enter those two zones.
    If they did this it would frankly be stupid to leave those there. too many options can be a bad thing- more menu options to sift through and you can get confused about what is actually where.

    There's a fine line between quality of life and just plain laziness. We've had more ridiculous proposals than this, like putting a home point and vendors in the mog house so you basically never have to leave it. Better yet, let's just make the game one big box and just spawn bosses in it when we want to fight something.

    This is hyperbole, yes, but when you give people an inch, they take a mile.

    It would improve my quality of life if they gave me infinite gil and removed all wait times for all content- until I did all of it of course. then I'd be bored. See, this is why MMOs have limitations.
