Then plan ahead the next time you subscribe and sort your gear out so it will be available during freeplay periods. It's not impossible to have a 2-4+ jobs available with Safe, Safe2, Locker, Wardrobe 1 and 2, and porter moogles available.
So many people just don't make a plan and have a proper way of sorting their gear.
Add arrows, bolts and bullets to sparks. The limit on gear players can get from sparks seems odd to me.
While I do see your point, it is the only choice we really have right now, you are correct. However..I must say, SE keeps adding gear but does not add more storage. They add PAID storage, for a game where they introduce new gear but nowhere to put it, and even with paying for all the wardrobes, I simply cannot play all the jobs as advertised without having inventory issues. That is the problem right there.
Even worse - the more gear/items we have, the longer it takes to load each time we zone because they won't update the dial up issue we have, so to talk to my linkshell I have to wait a LONG time if I am zoning. So in fact, SE is the one who needs to sort this out, not us. We can only use bandaids.
It's a huge problem, especially when the new gear they add consists almost entirely of sidegrades / situational gear, like the new Odyssey T3 armor/attire sets. For people who play all jobs, that's another 30 pieces.
Here's a thought: imagine if instead of adding all these T3 sets, Odyssey had permitted us to upgrade the Malignance set to +1 and +2, and the 119 abjuration +1 sets to +2 and +3 versions?
Upgrading existing gear that we've worked hard to obtain is the more player and inventory-friendly solution.
They add paid storage to try offset inflation costs, they have to try keep the game profitable and with inflation that gets harder.
I would argue they countered inflation costs by going from a full dev team capable of producing new content/expansions to a barebones crew resourced to be able to barely add anything. I'm pretty sure more than a few people would be willing to buy a new expansion pack or even a remaster that wouldn't need d3d proxies or jumping through hoops to make the game playable on modern graphics cards.
Expansions were not free, they were $40 each. They were also not made by the XI dev team but other dev teams at square enix, that now make expansions for xiv among other things.
