Killing the mimic should turn your whole pool into loud thud loot drops. As it stands there is no point to fight it. It only spawns if you haven't hit a loud, so why would you fight for garbage.

I mean, given that it's recast is shorter than it's duration and that it's meant to essntially be active at all times unless you switch to Seigan, it should really just be a modal ability that remains inactive indefinitely until the other ability is used and vice versa.

FFXI is more than capable of status effects without set durations.

They already did this, sort of. Shikanofuda for any buff, Chonofuda for any debuff, Inoshishinofuda for any elemental. I'm not sure how you'd save any space over that even if they got combined into a single ultimate master tool to do everything; wouldn't that just mean you wind up keeping an extra stack and maybe a dedicated stash of Shihei, just so you don't accidentally run dry?
