I was wondering when you would knock one of my suggestions down.
I'm not "knocking you down." I'm sorry you feel that way, that isn't the intention. I'm literally just telling you why it is the way it is. And if you read below, you'll find I support the basic premise of your suggestion, just not the implementation:

I really like the idea of a visible timer on-screen while you're in Abyssea.
I do as well. But I'd rather it see it implemented more in line with other content, with the timer display that most battlefields and other content have. It's more practical that way, and easier to see than a buff timer.

More seamless access to information makes a better player experience.
Frankly, I don't think it gets any more seamless than just using the existing, readily available countdown clock, which wouldn't require them to change any other mechanics or recoding the script that may be integrated with other aspects of Abyssea. (And the same goes for Assault as well.)

So, first: I understand that what I typed regarding my suggestion being knocked down (not me personally btw) was not entirely obvious, but it was dry sarcasm. I absolutely was expecting you to comment on one of my suggestions at some point since it seems that is just what you do (in the most general sense). Beyond that, I figured I'd at least defend my position of having something more visible for the timer as opposed to more leg exercises (/heal) after all that running my character has been doing.

Second: As a suggestion, if you really did like the core idea of what I said but not the implementation, you could have just said "I don't think a buff will work that well but maybe a timer like other battlefields have used (or insert other suggestion)." Despite doing fights like Sortie or Ambuscade somewhat often and paying attention to the timers, it just completely slipped my mind to consider that for Abyssea and other similar timed situations. That or it was because of how I view Abyssea that I leaned more towards the "Signet style" buff.

I thought that's what the discussion had shifted to, after the suggestion that if Assault gets instance timers, Abyssea could too. (I mean, don't make the two conditional, Assault timers would be nice, Abyssea timers would be nice, both would be great, but either is preferable to neither.)

Now that I think about it though... does old Dynamis do that too, or just divergence?

Maybe we can streamline this a bit: If an event or zone has a countdown to when you will be removed from it, that countdown timer should be visible like the ones in Sortie, Omen, and Dynamis - Divergence.

It's been awhile since I've needed to go in, but I believe the original Dynamis zones (before and after revamp) did not have a visible timer.

Good idea to put all those like Assault, Abyssea, and Dynamis into one general request though.

I personally wish the Abyssea had a timer ...AND respected the remaining 5 minutes. For some reason, if you exit abyssea with less than 5 minutes remaining, you cannot re-enter? ...I always thought this was bizarre.

They did roll out the timer to many older BCNMs, but some older content still doesn't have the timer. They did add this to various things over time, so there is decent odds that feedback could get it implemented into more content that lacks it.

I have a passion for discussing one of my favorite games- it is no more or less than that. I'm not here specifically to tear people down (or build them up, or any other angle in particular). Just, being someone who recognizes the limited dev resources available, I tend to prefer to push the suggestions that will have more impact over suggestions for issues I see as more trivial, or perhaps a consequence of people not preparing for things / being overly lazy). Of course, I do understand that with many of us having played this game for decades, there are various things that some may become tired of repeating. But there are also those of us playing this game BECAUSE it doesn't hold their hand or oversimplify things. And the reason for this is because with limited dev resources, I simply want to see them do the most good. And it is only because, like you and others here, I care much about the game that's been a part of my life for well over half of it.

And I do have a propensity for being blunt, but it's not out of malice, I just prefer to be direct and to the point, often to a fault.

I wish all timed, instanced content had a visible timer AND party (or alliance) draw-in. It is a nuisance that everyone has to individually enter older orb fights or higher-tier battlefields because it means that one person being afk for a few seconds or minutes means that the entire party has to wait for this one person to start buffs.

They have slowly added the timer to other contents; but the timer feature itself was added very late in the game which is why older content doesn't have it. It didn't simply get added to everything because back in the day, time limits for content were implemented in myriad different ways (SE being SE...).

But absolutely 100% yes, if there is a time limit for anything it should be displayed on screen.

I'd also love it if, like you said, entering a BCNM pulled in all party members. I fear it won't be so easy since regular BCNM areas work a lot differently from newer instanced content, but this is a substantial QoL with no downsides- I think it would be worth the effort.

I think the party "draw-in" should be a toggle option if added on the older orb fights (or those like it). Ironically, I found that it saves me a reasonable amount of time (read something about it, got confused, and tried it myself) not having all go in at once if multiple orbs are involved.

Less time exiting, running back (assuming entrance and exit are reasonably close) or exiting and/or warping, porting and running back.

That said, since this annoyance was brought up, let us buff outside the fights...at least core (core not Cor) buffs. Protect, Shell, food,...any buff that typically would NOT drop when you zone or where you don't need to be in proximity to another player for it to stay on.
