New Player Looking to get Helpful Friends :)

Hellos I am currently playing on Carbuncle and would love to have people to play with. I did start playing with my brother and a friend but they have since quit the game and kinda left me to fend for myself. I have a good grasp on the game so far and would like to do groups and or raids. I have been guild leaders on EverQuest and done alot of raiding in WoW, Also have played a bit of Final Fantasy 14 but FFXI always seems like there is so much more to do.

Guess in short I would love a social kind of Linkshell (I think thats what its called?). And one that I can do Raids later on with.

My Goals are to get lvl 99 Dragoon and White mage.. Altho everything to 99 would be awesome lol

Been reading http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/th...r-FFXI-in-2012 and I'm unsure where to find these Fields of Valor and Grounds of Valor. Don't get me wrong I want to learn my classes... But I did the Trial thing till I maxed out every thing I could. Just want to get my classes a bit quicker

SO the Fields of Valor are the books sitting around ?

Ok I am doing the Elder Memories quest... Got the Damselfly Worm really quick ... but the Magicked Skull seems really rare I saw 1 Ghoul in about 4 hrs and it didn't drop it :/

level 30 and now most stuff wont give me the loot I need since its to weak .... is there a way to get them to stiff drop quest items ?

It's easier to get the skull in Gusgen Mines. In Valkurm, Ghouls only come out at night, while inside Gusgen, they are always present (since it is a dungeon). Only crystals, elemental geodes, and beastmen seals/crests stop dropping when a monster is too weak to be worthwhile. Other item drops always have a chance.

ok so according to the wiki :

Snipper:
Crab Apron (5.7%)
Crab Shell (0.9%)
Land Crab Meat (4.3%)
Rock Salt (20%)

I've gotten Crab Shell 4 times now and still have not seen the Apron... Second day hunting all this stuff :/


Still at it looking for this Apron to drop .. leveled my Monk already to 35 looking for this thing lol

Finally got it ... Time to start working on Dragoon after I get Rank 2 of the Nation thing
