Allow ppl to submit plugins to SE devs along with the code. Approved apps are usable by players in the game. Simple. Many other games do this.

This would be fun, even if it weren't plugins per say, but an API to allow people to create say, an iPhone app that hooks into your playonline account, allowing you access to your friends list on the go, or to check up on the Auction House etc. I have absolutely no idea how complicated this would be of even if the demand would be great enough to take action on it, but a fun thought.
There are already a slew of 3rd party programs out there useable on FFXI that SE does not support and or tolerate the use of. I do not believe they would change their stance on these so easily. There are also a lot of ramifications involved with how these 'apps/codes' would interact with peoples play, vis a vis glitches, errors in code, bugs, etc. Double edged sword of an idea if I do say so.
Plugins that alter the game would give an advantage over ps2/360 players. However, apps for ffxiah, this forum, and maybe even a way to view in-game chat (like ls chat) while not logged in would be amazing apps to have on the go.
Lmao the PC players already have an advantage over the other platforms I've seen people use some programs for FF11 from watching on you tube that made me go 'wtf'. For example I seen one program that let people actually see the VNMs in abyssea moving around without resting.
The whole point is make these apps accessible to the player base through SE. You would click on the one's you want then it would install them. SE would be in control of the Aps, the Code, the uploader and the installation. Ya, they would need a team to read the code and decide what to allow but it isn't that hard. Do it exactly like an App store for your phone.
I would so very much approve of this, but I'm afraid they won't consider this option. They should though, it would alleviate the "need" for any other third party programs for 90% of the PC userbase. Right now it's a fact that almost all PC users use windower or other third party tools. And 90% of the stuff windower does should have been part of the normal game in the first place, and doesn't give anyone an unfair advantage. Stuff like a logger, item lotter/passer, distance display towards your target, party TP display, and something that matters a lot to me personally, timestamps. And plenty more that wouldn't break the game in any way, but would simply make things more convenient for everyone.
Reminds me of the ''Toybox'' on GMod 10 for some reason.
