As a player with 8+ years FFXI experience, I am very disappointed in the way fishing has become a complete snooze-fest. I would like to see a more realistic fishing experience. For example, if I fish in one spot for an hour, I should not be pulling up 20 rusty buckets, or rusty leggings (no fishing moghancement, btw). If there were truly that many items in the waters, there would be no room for fish. The commonality of catching these items makes it extremely annoying! Also, I have fished in real-life many times. I never throw out my line and after 5 seconds determine I am not going to catch anything. We should be able to leave the line in the water until we give up and reel it in.
These two major annoyances will cause players to lose interest in fishing very quickly and it becomes more of a chore than fun. Add these annoyances to the slow fishing skill-ups and I am hanging up my fishing pole for good. I just spent the entire 2-hour crafting enhancement period and I got .2 skill ups (I am level 27 fishing), caught around 12 black eels, 16 rusty buckets, 10 rusty leggings, and 36 times was told that I did not catch anything.
I realize some changes had to be made because of fishing bots, etc., but its should never come to making the activity a major annoyance.
Wake up, developers! This game is supposed to be enjoyed, not feel like a dinner with unlovable in-laws!
