    Abyssea Axtravaganza - default lights

    Hello,

As part of the new event, players with visitant status automatically receive 100 Azure light.

For those of us hunting Amber Sturdy Pyxis, having such an abundance of Azure light diminishes the likelihood of seeing an Amber Sturdy Pyxis, especially when Amber light is in the range of 48-96 (arguably the optimal range for hunting valuable items such as Orichalcum ingots, Dragon meat, Empyrean feet armor, and trigger items for NMs).

While Azure lights offer the possibility to extend visitant status (among other less useful rewards) and increase the time for me to hunt for Amber Sturdy Pyxis, I don't have the play time to spend more than 120 minutes inside Abyssea. I could dispose of abyssite that further enhance my Azure light, but that means I would be out of those bonuses when the campaign is over.

Is there a way that veteran Abyssea players can opt out of the complimentary lights? Having 100 Azure and 48 Amber means that I'm only seeing about 20-25% Amber Sturdy Pyxis, when I would typically see 70-75% with 0 Azure (and 0 Ruby in both instances).

Well look at it this way: With this azure light, you're going to get more cruor boxes, more TE boxes (Meaning longer durations of your hunting time) ISL boxes, and ofc temp items. If you are FC'ing then this event will be a godsend to people who have difficulty obtaining azure lights, as not only does this revoke ruby lights so long as you don't end in a ws (Such a blue mage CW cleaving in konschtat) or even doing BLM FC'ing in other areas. This'll ensure you have the time necessary, while you also have Amber to build up to get more frequent boxes.

Also food for thought: I've capped Amber plenty of times and I think this might be luck (So my following words can be irrelevant) I've collected 4 pairs of boots in 1 run. I also have plenty of KI's to sell off to the highest bidder, so not only does this help me get lights/boots/loot/KI's, but it's putting money in my wallet which makes me a happy chipmunk.

I don't need cruor (I'm throwing it away on Primeval brews), I don't need ISL (I hunt on DNC and THF), and I don't need Azure temp items (all of which can be purchased from a Cruor Prospector).

I don't deny that this event is useful for many players. I'm just saying that having extra light makes hunting Amber Sturdy Pyxis more difficult, because I will see less of them within any given period of time. Certainly, having Azure light affords the possibility that I can remain longer in visitant status, but as I mentioned above, it's really not convenient for me to have to spend 360 minutes obtaining the rewards I could have obtained in 120 minutes before the event.

Obviously, this effect is diminished when Amber is capped and if I were to be seeking Key Items, higher-tier Temporary Items, and Augmented Items. With capped Amber (255), the ratio of Amber Sturdy Pyxis to Azure is 2.55:1, translating to approximately 2/3 to 3/4 Amber Sturdy Pyxis, while the rate without any Azure is between 3/4 and 4/5 (the remainder being result of light-enhancing Abyssite and the Pearlescent cap on Sturdy Pyxis drop rate).

While I'm not refuting your anecdotal evidence of Empyrean feet armor at capped Amber, it is known that they become exceedingly rare as Amber passes beyond the fourth tier (somewhere above 96-128 light), because the rate of higher-tier Amber rewards crowds out the Empyrean feet armor. I'm raising this issue because it does affect players who are still trying to obtain Empyrean feet armor, or other Amber Sturdy Pyxis rewards, but who are not interested in Azure Sturdy Pyxis rewards. Indeed, I sense that many casual players would be incredibly fatigued by having to remain in Abyssea twice as long (assuming that keep their Amber at 88-96), because an Azure Sturdy Pyxis would appear half the time. If they are solo, building lights in time can be a concern, and so Azure is more useful. However, for large parties that can cap Pearlescent and reach optimal Amber light early on, the 100 Azure light is a burden; again, half the Sturdy Pyxis would be Azure.

This same pattern applies in my case. Having 100 additional Azure light means that Amber rewards are crowded out.

Sounds like a reasonable request. Perhaps these bonus lights should be manually applied by talking to an NPC, or perhaps there should be an NPC that can clear all your lights for a cruor fee.

Personally, I would like the latter.
