What's a Krakken?
~ahem~
With that out of the way, I, for one, did not like the event, and I shall mention a few of the bad ideas that made it so.
- Events that force users to log in every day are not convenient (more like stress inducing). And yeah, I am sure the numbers of active (otherwise dormant) characters look good to the provider...
- Including items such as the Beastly Shank without certain adjustments is a bad idea. If it was not obvious that most of what it will create is congestion and griefing, I guess it's pointless to even continue on the subject.
- Including vanity items that consume basically all the available points is a bad idea. It is horrible for collectors such as me, and no, it's not that I wanted to get the super—special vanity item(s) and the items that may be sold for around 1M gil each (will probably take a bit to get back to that price). I don't care about gil much at all; I do care about collecting things, though.
While I appreciate the effort for any events to be had, at its current form, yes, I would have preferred this one not happening at all.
I imagine some people would simply state that it is silly to complain about 'free' stuff. This sort of events are far from free, as they make users to pay just to be able to get all the available points, and heck, this was probably the most—about—gil—event there has ever been. Or so I maybe guess.
I would suggest having the moneymaking items requiring most points, while vanity items were more available to everybody. It is so very unfortunate that there are so many in-game items that are exclusive to the Japanese or/and American users, which is what this is not about, but they are around the same area in ways.
In this particular case, the people who simply weren't able to log in often enough due to things like life were not able to get a rather silly, but possibly fun item.
Personally, I was able to log in each day, and paid for the last 30 days for 8 characters spanning across two accounts just for this.
If I had to find something positive about the event, it is that they actually try to do something to get more people pay, though the methods could be questionable. For the items that were available, I guess I appreciated most the spawn triggers for the Ru'Aun Gardens and Al'Taieu NMs, even though they are easy to obtain via regular means. Even those do annoy me greatly due to the inventory woes the game keeps being chained to, but c'est la Vana'diel...
Unfortunately, I only expect the next rendition to be more of the same. However, here are some items that I might be glad to see in the future:
Okay, the last one was a joke (or was it!?).
- The Atomos Statue. I think that thing has not yet been really available at all for the users in the Europe.
- The Yovra Replica. Same as above.
- The equipment that boosts skill gain that were mentioned at least once already would be a good addition. I never had luck with them caskets except for the Prouesse Ring, and even that took days upon days. :\
- Similar to the above, items such as the Fisher's Torque that which boost crafting skill that are available from said boxes could be nice (or why not a possibility to obtain any of the rare items found in the caskets in Fields/Grounds of Valor areas).
- Equipment that boosts movement speed.
- The Shaper's Shawl.
- Voucher for tons of (Moat or/and Forest) Carp.
- The Ebisu Fishing Rod.
I guess that's all fer now; too sleepy to dow!
Though I almost want to add a way to enter a number of Kindred's Seal and other such battlefields, but I can't think of a good way to go about it (yes, I have spent all, and then some, to wage battle with a Behemoth and the likes, and am not getting much back).
Blubb!
Edit(s):
- Add tons of carp to the list, and on that note, I can't stress enough that, first and foremost, I don't want to see vanity items chewing up all the points (or whatever it will be in future events like this). They should be nearly automagical, not a choice over actually useful items.
- Add the Yovra Replica to the list.
