Yes, LOGIC. "Mine" Performs 50% better than yours. I know people talk all this smack about wanting "More challenging content" on these forums, but you don't actually believe that do you? If they did, they'd all be farming abyssea with no atmas on just for the "hard mode" experience.

No, they want more loot. Not more challenge. That's why they don't all jump on their favorite jobs with their favorite friends and go figure out how they can beat it. They get the best gear and they level / equip whatever they have to so that they can knock it out.

And they aren't looking to make friends or help people out (if they are, it's someone who is a friend and they are doing so by only bringing the best geared players they can find). They are looking for the fastest, safest way to win and that way is with the best geared people they can get.

Someone who has them is far more likely to have earned them than someone who does not have them. If you're looking to build a team, who do you pick? The guy with the championship rings or the guy in warm up pants?

The difference in damage can be win or lose in this event. Why risk it for a stranger.

When I need my faucet fixed, I don't bring in any guy with a plumbers crack just cuz he looks like he might be handy with a wrench. I bring in the guy with the big truck that says "Plumber" on the side cuz I know he's gonna get the job done.

Any time they make content that requires more than one person, the community decides who can and can't do it. The community has decided that no matter how awesome you are at Thief, you won't be coming unless you put down that Evasion Thocktcha, switch to monk and throw on some Oats.
Ah, my mistake then. If it's about profit and not just getting clears, then I can certainly understand why people would defend it and be happy with how it is. A lot of people tend to get much more selfish where gil is involved, sadly. =/

Still, I'd have thought that helping people out with the content would produce more people with said gear, enabling shout groups to be filled quicker, and overall saving time. Seems like it's a case of "If you haven't beaten it and don't have the gear from it, then that's your problem, not ours.", which seems kind of sad to me.

    I'm sure I used to hear people talk about what a wonderful community FFXI has, but looking at these forums lately, it doesn't seem like many of the people that gave it that reputation are still around. ; ;

thats why i'm loosing interest in this game, its a stain on the Final Fantasy name, Final Fantasy has always been about a group of people banning together and helping each other out in the name of greater good. I try everyday to help atleast 2 people out with shouts, let it be a LB10 or just simple Can i get a alchemists help please. I never charge for help and am always glad to give it, even when i farm stuff from abyssea, if it involves a megaboss or catcue?? i shout that if anyone wants the win to come along, most times they walk away with free loot.

There's still helpful players ingame. They just aren't sufficient in number or organisation to make a difference to players that need to overcome some of these new content obstacles.
But it is understandable to think that the community has stagnated when you read some of these posts.
The Dev Team need to get on this access divide and introduce easier and slower, lowman/solo avenues to allow people to get up to code, not just for this content but for any crazy new content they have in the pipeline, because this issue is not going to fix itself.

And yet I've spent so much time joining Tax'et parties as a RDM even though I don't need the win but to help those who need the kis.

Actually, he's not really wrong... which is an odd thing to say... I don't know why he brought it up at all, but it is true, in the sense that everything since ToAU has actually made "good" gear from an NPC.

Walmart turban; the best headpiece for quite a while, for a lot of jobs.
The WotG sets, were very good (relatively). (Cobra unit/Fourth division/ and the PLD set from sandy)
ASA/ACP/AMK all gave a really great piece (for the level that they were made).
The level 78 gear; Aurore/Perle/Teal were great for the level they were made.
The Bayld set (for heavy DD) was quite good for a whole week or so.

He's wrong in the sense that Adoulin gear was made for Adoulin (until next week when it gets fixed). Most of it (except the heavy bayld set) was almost all vastly inferior to the sets you should've had coming into adoulin).

During the first week, people with only Pre-Adoulin gear had trouble with Accurracy / Magic Accuracy. After spending time earning Bayld to buy Orvail, Thuradaunt sets etc. these gears did help solve this problem. It may not be the godly answer you all want to hear, but its better than saying "Sorry, there is absolutely no hope unless you have the best and nothing else."

Even with Orvail set, my Gravity 1 as a RDM subjob landed on mobs outside Ceivzak battlegrounds.

I don't mean Adoulin gear is good for all of SoA, but it is good for the introduction of SoA.

Edit: if you read the comment I responded to, the person did ask what was the "minimum" gear.
